利三　「光秀様……？」 Toshimitsu: Mitsuhide-sama……?

左馬之助　「どうかされたのですか？」 Samanosuke: Douka sareta no desuka?

光秀　「……可哀そうだな、って思って」 Mitsuhide: …… kawaisouna, tte omotte

光秀　「猿、これについてはさすがの僕も謝るよ　ゴメン。……そんなわけで彼、僕が貰うから」 Mitsuhide: Saru, kore ni tsuite wa sasuga no boku mo ayamaru. Gomen. …… sonna wake de kare, boku ga morau kara

光秀　「ああもう、どうして？　どうしてなんだよ！　あいつを殺さなきゃ、世界は綺麗にならないのに……！　あの最大最悪の、本ッ気のゴミをさ……！」 Mitsuhide: Aa mou, doushite? Doushite nandayo! Aitsu wo korosanakya, sekai wa kireinaranaino ni……! Ano saidaisaiaku no, honkki no gomi wo sa……!

光秀　「ああ、猿でも出来る仕事だと思ってたのに、最低……　あーつら、もう帰りたい」 Mitsuhide: Aaa, saru de mo dekiru shigoto da to omottetanoni, saitei…… Ah— tsura, mou kaeritai……

左馬之助と利三　「ああ、おいたわしや光秀様……」 Samanosuke & Toshimitsu: Aa, oitawashiya Mitsuhide-sama……

Mitsuhide: I've come to help. Things seemed to be getting too troublesome.

Samanosuke: Hiii~! Me and Toshimitsu came along too~♪

Toshimitsu: EMOTION! Nnn—! It's been a while since we've had some fun!

Mitsuhide: Samanosuke, Toshimitsu, let's go.

Samanosuke & Toshimitsu: Hideyoshi, prepare yourself!

Mitsuhide: ….. Faster… I need to kill him faster……

Toshimitsu: Lord Mitsuhide! If you would allow us to use our "powers", we could verify the situation right away……!

Mitsuhide: No, that won't be necessary.

Mitsuhide: Yes, that's right! I want to die! I want to hurry up and die and finally say goodbye to this shitty world! …But before I do that, I need to turn the world into a beautiful one.

Toshimitsu: Lord Mitsuhide…?

Samanosuke: Has anything happened, my lord?

Mitsuhide: … I merely thought, "how pitiful"…

Mitsuhide: Monkey¹, even I must sincerely apologize for this. Sorry. …… That's why I'll take him with me.

Mitsuhide: Aaagh, why?! Why is it so!? If I manage to kill him, the world would become so much beautiful……! That man—the biggest and the worst of them all—is truly the most rotten trash……!

Mitsuhide: Aah, and here I thought that even a monkey like him could get the job done. How terrible… Ah, what a pain, I wanna go home already……

Samanosuke & Toshimitsu: Ahh, our sincerest condolences, Lord Mitsuhide……

[1]. In case no one knows, but "monkey" is Hideyoshi's historical nickname. It's debatable where it originated from; some say it was Nobunaga himself (there's no proof of this, though he did call him "bald rat" once in a letter for having a fight with his wife) and some think it came from graffitis from the populace calling him so because they were dissatisfied with his ruling. Either way it stuck with his figure, and that's why he's always portrayed as one.

[2]. Just something fun I noticed, but Mitsuhide has quite a formal speech quirk when he's serious, huh~. He always uses words in their kanji form whenever possible, like how キレイ becomes 綺麗 and ダメだよ becomes 駄目だよ. Even so, he doesn't talk in full keigo, instead going for a more informal speech manner, and sometimes "breaking" the quirk (like saying ゴメン instead of 御免). It's quite cute honestly!

I also revisited the first Onimusha 1 and I still think this is my favorite game in the series. There's no padding, no undercooked dating mechanics, no inflated health pools. You have your gauntlet and weapons so go fight some baddies while solving a few puzzles for 3 to 4 hours. Would've been nice if they added in Oni Mode in the post-game for this remaster though
