Master Willem loved wine and had an extensive collection of bottles. It wasn’t uncommon for students to break into his wine cellar, steal some and get trashed, and teachers themselves had access to it too, so mornings in Byrgenwerth were very quiet and nobody was really active until very late in the morning, as everyone was hungover.
