ballads are a really big help when writing gloomy fics indeed.. i do the same plus add pieces of Yiruma's music in it.. That gives the perfect gloomy mood if you have the right songs

I have a whole playlist on my iPod for this. X3 Mostly, I listen to ballads when I'm writing gloomy stories~ I listen to SuJu, 2PM, U-Kiss, Park Hyo Shin, ERU, and other various ballad singers/ballad songs from groups~
