Here is a rough example of the kind of application we will be looking for. Of course, this isn’t perfect, this is something I whipped up quickly to show enquiring players. Some people like to spend a lot more time on applications than I spent on this, and this often shows in the application.

Character: Calliel Lightfeather
What drew you to this character: I find Calliel’s struggle between his two lives quite enticing. I think it would be quite interesting to play a character with such duality. He was clearly dedicated to the Angel’s cause and became quite lost when he got to The Ridge and was given meaning by upholding a new kind of order. I think it would be really fun and angsty to see how things pan out and it’s great that the outcome of a potentially huge plot point would be down to development and the player rather than predetermined.
Faceclaims ( Please list at least two ): Charles Michael Davis, Michael B Jordan.
Please include why you chose the faceclaims
I think Charles’ character in The Originals is kind of like Calliel in an abstract sense. There is of course the fact that he has an angelic look, but more than that, Marcel was around for the old order of New Orleans in The Originals and then brings a new order in. Throughout the whole course of the show, he is torn between the city, what he has built there and his love of Rebecca/the rest of his Original family.
Michael B would be because he has a similar look to Charles.

Please list at least two headcanons for your character:
Disclaimer – We are aware that coming up with headcanons can be difficult when trying to adhere to a world and lore that you aren’t familiar with. We’re looking for creativity and depth of character more than anything. If your HCs don’t fit with the lore/background of The Ridge, we will let you know, but this won’t affect your application as long as we can see the charcter.
Calliel is a natural leader, but not once as it ever occurred to him to try and take a position higher than the one he has been given. He’s so preoccupied with how things should be and so invested in his place in the hierarchy, that he doesn’t think about how things could be. He is totally devoted to order and wouldn’t dare try to change it up.
He doesn’t actually hate demons. Calliel is actually scared of Demons because he doesn’t understand them, but he has never known what it is to be scared of something and so can’t label that emotion and pegs it as hate, same as most Angels.
He really misses flying. Like... Really misses it. There isn’t much need for it in a small town and hardly any freedom to do it with so many people around who don’t know about anything other than their own race. So he sneaks off sometimes to stretch his wings. He knows it’s dangerous and has told other Angels off on more than one occasion for flying about, but he can’t help himself sometimes.
Please include a list of potential plots for your character:
I think it could be really fun to go inside the box with some of his plots. Being a police Sergeant in a town full of magical creatures must be hard. So, it’d be good to explore some crime/investigation plots from that perspective. Like, maybe he suspects demons for almost everything and has to get past his prejudice and think maybe it was some other asshole who robbed the place/mugged the bystander?
I also think it would be interesting to explore his feelings for other races. Where he comes from, it’s one race on top and the other on the bottom. Does that mean that all other races are inferior? Or just Demons? But then again, he respects the Elves? So many questions. I’d really like to explore that inner dialogue and with a connection like Arariel, I think she could be the catalyst for that and really bring some angst to Calliel
Please include an in-character sample. This can be as long as you’d like with a minimum of 400 words:
This sections will of course be all you. Where we would like you to demonstrate your writing ability. Play to your strengths, this could be a sample of combat, conversation or even an inner dialogue. However, as much as we love and appreciate descriptive writing, a whole lot of descriptions won’t show us whether or not you can play the character that you’re applying for, just keep that in mind.
If you wish, feel free to include any extras ie. mock blog, aesthetic board, playlist etc ( optional):

What skeleton are you applying for?: Agent Franklin; Frankie for short
Character Real Name: Carmen Alan Davidson
First Choice FC: Janel Parrish
Second Choice FC: Erendira Ibarra
Character Gender and Pronouns: cis female, she/her
Character Age: 30
Please list at least two reasons why the Agency looked to recruit your character:
1) The Davidson name dates back to second generation of the Agency. Franklin’s father was in the agency until he retired a few years before Frankie was recruited.
2) Franklin received a lifesaving award her second year as a firefighter after saving two people. She was later that year awarded firefighter of the year which was reported in the news.
Character Backstory:
Agent Franklin grew up the only child to Alan and Helen Davidson. Her middle name wasn’t always after her father, but around the time Franklin turned four years old and her parents realized her mother couldn’t have any more children. Her father won the argument to have it legally changed. Her mother always seemed to shake her head when her father told the story as the only time he ever won an argument against her mother.
Even before the name change, Frankie was her father’s little girl. As she grew up, she thought he was in the Army, overseas for most of her childhood. Her fondest memories were the days he returned home; they would spent all their time together, catching up with new memories. Franklin spent weekends camping, fishing, hunting, and just about anything outdoors. She grew up never being scared to get covered in dirt or climb the next obstacle with her father always there to catch her if she fell.
It was a shock to Franklin’s friends and family that she didn’t enlist when she graduated high school. Instead, she couldn’t help but be impressed by the firefighters she met at her senior year job fair. Franklin was already physically fit and her family supported her decision to apply to her local fire station. She passed through the academy with ease and studied on becoming a paramedic while she worked. Franklin was a full time employee as well as a full time student during her late teens, working her hardest to achieve her goals.
Frankie never finished school. At twenty-one, she was approached by the former Agent Adams, who has since retired, and her father with an interesting offer. Frankie was mad at her father for a total for twelve seconds for lying to her for most of her life before the excitement of becoming an agent took over. She accepted right away and knew the perfect excuse to tell her mother and friends.
It was only natural that Frankie copied her father’s cover. Claiming to want to see the world and save more of it outside of her little home town, no one was shocked to see her followe in her father’s footsteps. Frankie left for Agency training and no one was the wiser. She was incredibly upset her father couldn’t be her mentor, but bonded quickly with the old agent Adams.
Frankie almost didn’t make it into the field. Acting without thinking was second nature to her, and her firefighter instincts led her down the wrong path before she learned to correct them. Running back into burning buildings, despite the risk, transferred over to the agency. That training almost got her placed in tech after she failed the critical decision making final test. After a bit more training and a watchful eye from Adams, Frankie was promoted to a veteran agent after six years in the agency.
With her promotion came the bittersweet parting from her mentor. Although he never admitted it, Adams stayed at the Agency long enough to see her out on her own. He retired just two months after her official promotion, leaving behind his legacy and high expectations. Franklin really hit her stride as a veteran agent. When the position for Franklin opened up after the sudden death during a classified mission, Frankie was one of the top candidates. Through a competitive process, she emerged on top of one of the most qualified candidate pools in the history of the promotion process.
Character Personality: [[At least one full paragraph, please.]]
Frankie has never been one to hold back. She is full throttle, all of the time, and will leave anyone in her dust if they can’t keep up. If anyone were to spontaneously break into song and dance for no reason or yell ‘challenge accepted’ at something that shouldn’t be considered a challenge, it is her. Franklin needs to have a challenge in her life. When Franklin doesn’t have something to do, she tends to fidget until she stirs up her own trouble.
Franklin is incredibly outgoing. She loves to be in the middle of a crowd as much as possible, and may as well be called the ‘unofficial bunker welcoming committee’. She’s outgoing and observant, and does a great job making new agents feel at home in their new home. Most people wouldn’t be able to guess that Franklin was an only child with how easy-going and willing to share she is.
Her loud personality and optimistic personality can be grating on some nerves and she has been known to get under peoples’ skin. Franklin is spontaneous and impulsive; this can be good or bad depending on the mission and her disposition for the day. Franklin’s original firefighter training is still at the core of her values, and she can act before she thinks.
OTHER:
Anything else:
Headcanons!
Franklin always carries a Rubik cube with them. She uses it to fidget with and to show off how fast they can solve it
Her MTBI type is ESFP.
If Frankie was going to be sorted at Hogwarts, she’d fall in the middle at Slytherdor.
Her favorite color is orange.
Always tries to get the agency Jeep whenever they have to drive out on a mission.
Has recently become a mentor to someone for the first time.
Is considering starting to teach some training classes but hasn’t yet.
Frankie has only been an founding father for 6 months, making her the newest founder.
Frankie likes having a roommate in the bunker. While she spent her whole life growing up as an old child with her own room she spent a lot of time with friends spending the night and looks like it as a forever slumber party.

What skeleton are you applying for?: Agent Jay
Character Real Name: Dominic Matthew Tetrazova
First Choice FC: Nick Bateman
Second Choice FC: Hunter Parrish
Character Gender and Pronouns: cisgender male; he/him
Character Age: thirty-four
Please list at least two reasons why the Agency looked to recruit your character:
1. Jay’s successful career as a US Marshal led to multiple collars of dangerous fugitives. His team took out two members on the FBI’s most wanted list in his years of service.
2. Through law enforcement and private trainers, Jay has been formally trained in three different styles of martial arts. He’s won multiple local and regional tournaments.
3. Agent Jay was in the final stages of applying with the FBI as a special agent. His behavior was deemed too reckless and there was too much paper in his file, so he was not invited back for the final interview.
Character Backstory:
Agent Jay grew up in a modest home outside of Boulder, Colorado. He was the oldest of three children and grew up in a loving home. He was a doting big brother to his twin younger sisters and a fairly easy child. While Jay didn’t act out in class, he was often sent home with notes about his aggressive behavior on the playground. It was very common for Jay to come home with bruises, scrapes, and busted up lips. When he turned five, his parents enrolled him in an after-school Judo program.
Jay excelled in his Judo classes, and worked a paper route to help afford classes. With martial arts, Jay was able to focus his wild energy into something more productive and learn self-control and discipline. As Jay got older, he saw the struggles his parents had with money and worked through high school. Opting out of college due to financial constraints, Jay worked three jobs after he graduated from his local high school.
After a year of living at home and saving, Jay applied for the police academy. He went to school at night and continued to work through the days to make sure the mortgage on his family home didn’t fall behind. He graduated with top marks and was offered a position at a local sheriff’s office. Jay quickly became SWAT and CNT certified, an eager sponge for his newfound career. During his time at the sheriff’s office, he met Rebekah. They hit it off instantly, and Rebekah seemed to understand Jay’s dedication to his job and his family. They were engaged just a year after meeting and had a small, private wedding celebration at his childhood home. Life was going well for Jay and his new bride, and he continued to excel at work with his hard working attitude and attention to detail.
Shortly after his twenty-first birthday, one of Jay’s Sargeants recommended an open position with the US Marshal Service. Although it would take him away from home, the opportunity to travel and serve was too inciting and he found himself applying just after he purchased property just a couple of blocks from his family’s house. The core value of the US Marshals -- justice, integrity, and service -- embodied Jay’s work life.
But with the extra freedom came more room for Jay’s personality to get him in trouble. He was often in his supervisor’s office, trying to charm his way out of write-ups and explain the reasoning behind his methods. Although unorthodox, Jay’s results couldn’t be denied. His successful mission file was much larger than his violation folder, but both continued to grow the longer Jay worked with the USMS.
Jay’s dedication to his job, and the way he played loose and fast with his life, led to issues with his marriage. They both struggled to make it work, but Jay’s stubbornness proved too much for even his faithful wife. Jay could feel the finality of his marriage the second he told Rebekah he had a long-term assignment on the east coast. The relief on her face was the final straw, and the divorce paperwork was filed, sorted, and taken care of before he left for the six-month mission.
After a particularly scathing review and completed assignment, Jay was approached by the Agency with the opportunity of a lifetime. It took weeks for him to make up his mind, the weight of his familial responsibilities weighing down on him. The ability to keep in contact with his family, although in a very limited capacity, gave Jay the courage to accept the offer. His family was already used to Jay being away for work, and his sister’s happily moved into the house he purchased and retained after the divorce.
Much like his previous jobs, Jay excelled during his training and recruitment. His methods continued to be strange, and maybe a smidgen too dangerous, but Jay had enough self-discipline and training to know when to reel it in. He quickly grew a reputation at the Agency, much to the chagrin of some of his superiors, and found his new freedom exhilarating.
When the Founder position opened, Jay was the obvious successor and welcomed the new challenge. Despite opposition for his promotion, Jay took his new namesake and continued doing what he does best: get results, no matter what the cost.
Jay’s been described as calm, confident, and capable in his best moments, and reckless, fearless and cold in his worst.
He has two different agency suits -- one a traditional three piece suit and the second a worn leather jacket with jeans -- that showcase the two sides of his personality. The main side of Jay is his dominant personality. It’s sly smiles and a comfortable, natural sense of authority that makes him a great Founder, capable mentor and good teacher. Jay in the field never loses his cool but often comes up with off the wall ideas and tactics that perhaps aren’t the safest for everyone. That also manifests in his love for high-adrenaline sports and motorcycle riding.
The other side of Jay isn’t so endearing. He’s an awful perfectionist who doesn’t tolerate botched missions or laziness. Jay can sometimes put a little too much of himself into his work. As a child, he was instilled with a keen sense of responsibility to step up to the plate. Because of this, he’s married to the job. While this may not seem like a negative to some, the responsibility of Jay’s fractured divorce lies mostly on his shoulders. He will always put his work before anything else, including significant others and friends. This can lead to a sort of aloofness that can rub some people, especially those who he has a private relationship with, the wrong way.
He’s also too willing to risk his life for a cause or a mission. There’s a lack of fear Jay possesses that makes him a fantastic asset in the field but also tends to put him in unnecessary danger. He’s willing to go through any lengths to make sure a mission success, and while he doesn’t like breathing any rules, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t found a way around them in the past.

Headcanons:
Jay’s previous codename was Boone, after Daniel Boone the pioneer.
Jay’s recruitment was not out of sheer luck. His former mentor, a retired Founder, had an extensive network of connections with most of the US Federal Agencies. Jay was fast-tracked through the Marshals and caught the eye of his Chief, who then recommended Jay to the former Founder.
Washington has been pushing for Jay to give back to the Agency as a training agent, but Jay has little interest in sitting in a classroom. He believes he works best in the field and has the most to offer there.
While Jay doesn’t want to train in the classroom, he is a very open, active and hands-on mentor. Jay’s a strong believer of learning by doing, and often pushes to have his mentees go out in the field as often as possible, even if they are tech agents.
Since childhood, Agent Jay has always been the first one to go out and explore. He was the first kid on the playground to figure out how to climb up and over the monkey bars to leap across to the jungle gym. The lack of fear turned into confidence as he grew older.

Desired Character: Severus Tobias Snape
SEVERUS - ‘stern’; a fitting name for the boy whose childhood was not overflowing with smiles and laughter, but who instead seems to wear a persistent look of disinterest on his face instead.
TOBIAS - roughly translates into ‘goodness’; it is this part of his name that Severus has tried to all but erase from his persona. To not only be attached to the man who was such a source of misery for him for years, but to also carry a similarity to him is more than Severus wants to bear. He doesn’t want to be anything like his father, and the easiest way to separate himself from that should be to get rid of the damning name.
Sexuality / Gender Identity:
Cismale (he/him), demisexual. In terms of his sexuality and coming to terms with what he understands about this part of himself, Severus is inexperienced in many ways - after all, he’s only just begun to branch out in terms of intimacy and physical affection, and is still trying to navigate these aspects of his life. His scope of personal relationships is limited in many ways, and that’s not even taking the ideas of a sexual relationship into accounts. For that reason, he’s still in a period of his life where sexuality is a bit of a question mark for him. Although I don’t expect to see him doing a ton of experimentation, I do think that he’d be trying to figure out what the difference between simply caring for someone is, and what being attracted to them feels like. Because of the background in which he comes from, however, Severus is someone that would need to form a bond of trust with a person before he could even begin to consider any sort of romantic or intimate bond with that person.
Age / Birthday:
17 years old, born on January 9th, 1999. Popular traits of the Capricorn that Severus displays are ambition, discipline, and determination, as well as sometimes being a know-it-all, condescension, and being unforgiving.
Why did you choose this character?:
Honestly, because I’ve always found Severus to be an interesting character that doesn’t fall into that ‘good or evil’ binary, and I wanted to explore that development, especially in terms of when he was in school. I feel like this time in which the roleplay is taking place would’ve had the most critical effect on charting the rest of his life and the decisions that he made, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
Character Bio:
( trigger warning; domestic abuse, child abuse )
Perhaps if Eileen Prince had known of the future that awaited both her and her future child, maybe she would've thought twice about marrying muggle Tobias Snape. Blinded by the attraction that she felt for him, it was enough to take a step back from the magical world. A drastic measure, but something she was willing to give in exchange for a life alongside Tobias. Whether or not she kept the wizarding world a secret during their relationship is something that’s still left unanswered. The question is how they ended up married without Tobias’ deep resentment for magic not showing until the ring was on her finger. Which was when everything changed for her.
By this time their son was brought into the world, the relationship that was once filled with happiness and love was dead and gone. Eileen’s magic had become rusty, as she was forbidden to use any form within the house by Tobias. Meanwhile, he was afraid of the wizarding world, and afraid of what he could not understand. Perhaps even afraid that his wife might’ve been more powerful than he was. Because of this, the family lived in poverty for years, Tobias working a hard labor job and Eileen struggling to find work, for she had no credentials and no education in the muggle world. A happy family and a beautiful home had sank slowly into a dark place that was devoid of light or of joy, and still while Severus was young. When he was small - young enough to be oblivious to the truth of his surroundings but old enough to be aware of them, he’d sit and listen as his parents fought. He’d watch as objects flew across the room, thrown in a furious rage - sometimes even seeing his father’s fist follow afterwards. They seemed to always be fighting with one another for a reason that would remain lost to him for a long time. His mother did her best to care for him, kindness and well-meaning gestures in everything she did. She attempted to love her son, but Severus was a mirror image of the man who left bruises against her skin. And still, no matter what she would try, the kindness she showed was constantly overshadowed by the distaste that his father held for him. He couldn’t win, for in the same way that he was a shadow of his father, he was also a reminder of everything that Eileen was. He had the same wizard blood running through his veins that she did. His father could try to banish magic from the house, he could berate and beat Eileen when she slipped up and tried to use magic, he could speak poorly of everything that the wizarding world stood for - but he could never eliminate the living and breathing reminder of him being a part of the wizarding world - which took form with Severus.
Eventually, as time passed, Severus could only sit around and listen to the arguments for so long. Less confused and scared of the fights that would unfold in front of him, and more annoyed by it, he’d find himself leaving the house as soon as the fighting began. It was his own company that he could rely on. At that young age, he became independent and self-supporting. He had yet to experience a time that didn’t exist with him on his own, avoiding his parents. Which was why when he finally met someone who seemed interested in talking to him, it was almost disconcerting. She had explained that her name was Lily, and how she lived in the neighborhood over upon first meeting. Severus wasn’t sure what she wanted, but all the words and the interactions that had been held inside seemed to bubble up and spilled out without a filter. He was curious - about her, about her family, about what she did. He was curious of her kindness. He wanted to get to know her - and so he did.
It was on a cold afternoon in February that Severus discovered that magic that laid within him as well. He’d read about it until now, listened to the stories of a past life that his mother would bestow upon him. He'd watch as she showed him bits and pieces of her magic when Tobias wasn’t around. They were simple and small things - but it was enough to make him hungry for more of this world he’d yet to discover. Whereas she enjoyed his curiosity, his father forbid it - blaming it all on his mother and quickly turning on her. That afternoon, it was something small, but still - it was the usual to and fro, nothing new. The calm voice that slowly turned angry, the eery tension that settled over the room, the shouting voices that rose like the sea. The crashing sounds of things breaking. The ugly noise of fists resounding against flesh. He was used to this - and still, in that moment when it happened that afternoon, he’d seen enough. All he could remember was the anger that was thrumming through him, the hatred and the disgust that had been slowly building towards the man he was supposed to call his father.
The feeling was nothing he’d ever experienced before. There was a loud crack of energy through the air, followed by a crash. The usual chorus of chaos had dissolved. When he’d opened his eyes, he’d seen his mother sitting and staring at him - while his father was hunched over on the ground. Severus’ eyes had traveled from his mother to his father, taking note of the wood fragments stuck in his skin. And then, there was the kitchen chair on the ground, laying in shambles from where it had been broken over Tobias’ back. It was clear from that point on that Severus was indeed like his mother. This meant that the stories that he’d heard about Eileen’s years at Hogwarts were just a distant reality for him. It also meant that now, instead of the sneering looks and the bitter insults muttered under breaths, his father could be more open with his hatred. There was nothing left to separate the way he was treated from the way his mother was treated - he was a wizard, just like she was. He took it in stride each time it would occur, swallowing down the fighting words and covering up the bruises as if it had never happened. There was far more in the world than the hatefulness he’d seen and learned from his father, and he’d already witnessed it. Hogwarts was his chance to learn and discover things about himself without being under the watchful eye of his father. It was his chance to explore this power that laid within him, and develop it for more uses than those that had already showed - and he wasn’t going to lose out on that.
Expand upon at least two of the character connections given for this character:
LILY EVANS;
His relationship with Lily matters more to him than the one he holds with either of his parents - or anyone else, for that matter. She’s the one person that he’d do anything for, even now when they’re not speaking. It’s such a strange feeling to him, one that’s new and almost unsettling to a certain extent - but the amount of hope and faith that she has in him makes Severus feel like he’s a good person. He was raised to feel like he was bad - that because he had magical blood running in his veins, there was something wrong with him. and so he believed it. But Lily looked at him like he was something good - even had the boldness to call him her best friend. When Severus commits himself to trying to become a better person, it’s not for himself or for his family or for people he wants to help - it’s to show Lily that she’s not wrong in caring about him. Which is why although it’s only been a short time since the incident, he’s still shaken by what he did. Lily was the first person who ever showed him kindness - and in return, he was responsible for one of the worst moments in her life. The guilt that’s begun to eat away at him is starting to become overwhelming, because he wants to speak to her again and make amends for what’s happened before it’s too late - but at the same time, he’s worried to do so in fear that she will reject him once and for all. Lily has been a force in his life that has kept him from going too far, as the faith that she has in him has kept him grounded. With her gone, though, there’s no one to stop him from falling deeper and deeper into the dark arts that Slytherin is so entrenched in. It’s his fault that this is happening, but he needs her.
REMUS LUPIN;
He’s not sure what he thinks of Remus Lupin. Well, there are some things he thinks of Remus at this point - most of them revolving around the fact that he saw the figure of the sleeping werewolf hidden away in the shack that night. But Remus irritates him and confuses him all in one swoop - for it’s bad enough that he’s companions with James Potter and Sirius Black, standing by as the two of them have publicly embarrassed him in front of a good chunk of the school body. Which that would be fine if that was the case, because Severus could then chalk that up to Remus just being another one like them and add him into the plan of revenge he’s been planning to take. But it’s not that simple, and that’s what’s frustrating. Since Severus was given the task of tutoring Lupin, he’s had the chance to interact with him in an environment where it’s just the two of them - and now he can’t say that Remus is just like James or Sirius. Remus is one of the nicer people that he’s met before, always appreciative and grateful to him. Which is why it’s hard to distinguish the Remus that Severus speaks to in their tutoring sessions from the one who he encounters alongside James Potter. And now, just to add even more into the mix, the one who’s a werewolf.
JAMES POTTER;
Anyone who’s ever heard one of their names mentioned knows that the two of them cannot stand each other. What had begun with James trying to humiliate him had turned into a battle of sorts, as Severus began to stand up for himself more. They bicker and they torment one another, they hurl insults at one another and know exactly what to say to make them hurt the worst. It’s perhaps the most fitting example of ‘keeping your enemies’ closer, because Severus really does know James potter quite well - a fact that he’s not entirely proud of, no less. But he knows what to say to get him annoyed, or what will make him angry, and it just seems to show how tangled their lives are with one another. The one thing that doesn’t make sense to Severus, however, is that this whole time he had chalked up James being an asshole to the other boy trying to win Lily over. But now that Severus and Lily have a rift between them, James has yet to make any sort of move on Lily - the only “move” he’s made is saving Severus’ life, which has thrown the dynamic between the two of them into a complete frenzy. and it’s made Severus overcompensate with his anger, because he’s not going to say thank you to James. James gets under his skin in the worst way possible, and all Severus wants to do is make him be quiet. Makes sense considering the fact that he chose to try and end an argument between them by covering James’ mouth with his own.
How does your character feel about their placement into their house?:
Severus wasn’t expecting to be in Slytherin upon his entrance into school - if anything, he’d thought he was going to end up in Ravenclaw, simply because he felt like he aligned better with the traits of the house, and because being a halfblood went against it’s deep history of pureblood surpremacy. Upon being placed in the house, he felt pressure to try and fit in with the group of people, in fear that if he didn’t, they would make his life torture - which was the exact life that he was trying to escape at Spinner’s End - which is why he’s lying about himself being a pureblood. He doesn’t particularly like very many of the people in Slytherin, as he finds many of them to be exhausting and overly involved with their own ego. He just tries to keep to himself and do the bare minimum to keep his head above water and the targets off his back in the Slytherin house.
Describe your character’s first time brewing amortentia. What did they smell, and how did they feel about it?:
Despite his talents with potions, Severus believes Amortentia to be one of the least useful potions to brew. He finds no use in it, and had even considered skipping the class in which they were going to brewing it because he found it so elementary. However, he went through with the class and with the brewing of the potion, finding it to be just as useless as he had expected it to be. Love is not something that he believes to be fundamental in life, after all - he’s survived seventeen years on the earth without really knowing or feeling undeniable and unconditional love. Love is something of an afterthought for him, and it goes to show in the way that his potion smelled. It’s the faint scent of the dusty leather books he carries around with him, it’s the lavender scent of the perfume his mother wears, it’s the smell of freshly cut grass on the hill where he used to go with Lily in their neighborhood. And something else, something he can’t quite put his finger on. It’s familiar, but he doesn’t know what it is. After the lesson is done for the day, he leaves the classroom trying to figure out what the smell is, but he can’t figure it out. He knows he’s been around it before, but he can’t put a name to it, and still can’t.
What are your plans for this character in the group?:
One thing that I would love to explore in this group is the balance between Severus’ head and his heart. I’ve always viewed Severus as someone who has difficulty figuring out which one he should listen to - he’s a person that’s always been led by intuition and logic, for he’s never seen enough kindness to listen to his heart. But in this group, because it’s still at that point in his life where he’s yet to fully commit himself to a point where some might consider him to be ‘irredeemable’, I think it’d be interesting to explore this side of him. I also love the fact that he’s a person who can’t be defined as good or bad, and the fact that his intentions aren’t clear cut. In terms of moral stances, he’s the epitomes of shades of grey. I think that in this group, I want to see him be able to understand more about kindness outside of the scope of Lily, and for him to determine whether or not there are people outside of her that he can also trust. He’s made a point to isolate himself, which he believes is what he wants - to essentially be alone - but I’d think it would be great for him to explore and determine whether or not this is actually true. And although the Death Eater are of a different type than the one in canon, as Voldemort is not in power - I would love to be able to explore his own inner turmoil on whether or not he wants to join the Death Eaters. I would love to see his lie to the rest of the Slytherin house about being a pureblood come undone and come back to bite him in the ass. I like the idea that he’s interested in the group for the power and the respect that they have, but I imagine that the stance that they have on a lot of things would be something he’d have a hard time agreeing with. And of course, as always, I want to explore the relationships that he hold with the Marauders and the other members of the Slytherin house.

☢ Character Backstory (At least three paragraphs, we ask that you include important life events, important childhood points, life before the outbreak, life after the outbreak, how they wound up in the current area.)
Aside from charm and guile, Emerson didn’t get much from her mother. Her looks and temperament ran sharply to her father, and, while she managed some of her mother’s enthusiasm and ceaseless curiosity, she got very little of dad’s responsible nature and caution. Those two traits were hoarded by the children from her father’s first wife, and they monopolized most of her father’s attention, as well. Emerson, born in Boston, Massachusetts, was ten years younger than the oldest brother, and seven years younger than the middle one, so by the time Emerson was in middle school and thoroughly ensnared in adolescent rebellion, one was finishing up college while the other was trying to make a living off of an hourly retail job.
Her childhood friends were terrified of her mother, but Emerson never understood their fear. She was not, she’ll grant, a kind woman, but she was patient, and thoughtful, and imminently fair. If she sometimes said hurtful things, it was the truth of them that stung, not any malice on her part. Unlike her brothers, and even sometimes her father, her mother was never cruel. She trusted her mother above anyone else, and if you asked Em’, family didn’t extend beyond the two of them. An irrational fifteen year old Emerson believed that thought alone jinxed her parents into a divorce that had her and mom packing and moving back home to Arizona where her grandparents were.
Emerson didn’t want to leave Boston, but she had no choice. Her half brothers weren’t kind, especially the middle one who insisted Em’s mother was a whore, and her father was a rough and loud man. She wouldn’t fight to stay with that part of her family if it meant an unstable living situation so reluctantly she accepted Tucson as her new home. Her grandparent’s mobile home was tiny and cramped, and Em didn’t adjust well. She never wanted to be home, but she wasn’t going to let her distaste of Tucson hold her back from experiencing her youth.
As a result of Emerson’s rebellions worsened into high school and were loud and wild and seemed, in general, like insanely good fun. She positioned herself on the precise edge of too much, paid restitution with her father’s money that he sent to Arizona for her and did community service in impractical shoes. And, sometimes, the people she partied with got hurt, but it was never intentional, never the point of what she did. She’d even ended up with fines and stuck on probation after a night vandalizing a house in construction.
She always bounced back from repercussions and was right back at it- she never planned on bending to the rules. She preferred living life by her own codes and did as she pleased, like an East coast whirlwind trying to take over the South West desert. She dropped out of school, drank too much and drove way too fast, and my God were street races on the desert landscape the most fun she’d ever had. First it started with her in the passenger’s seat, but eventually, with enough convincing and batting of her eye lashes, boyfriend A,B, or C (wherever she was down her list of prospective relationships), she had her go on the driver’s side.
Emerson became the queen of odd jobs and quick easy cash. Yes, this meant she ended up working in the serving industry, but that was simply her steady source of income. She wasn’t making money illegally, per se, but Em’ was great at snatching up any and all opportunities no matter how unethical. Need not worry, there weren’t drugs involved. She had a rebellious streak in her, but by no means did that mean she would ever partake, let alone sell. Needed a house maid for the day? Someone to clean your car or pick up your groceries or to babysit? She was the girl to call.
The consistency in which she received these jobs slowly declined as her reputation as a wild hearted teenager became more well known. This did not deter her for wherever there was opportunity, Em was there. And this worked well for her up until her love of street racing landed her behind bars.
To be arrested was never a part of Emerson’s life plan, but it happened. Police showed up after being tipped off to an area where they often raced their cars. Em happened to be behind the wheel when they arrived rather than on the sidelines and the consequence to that was jail time. It was quite the unexpected turn for the worse, but like always Emerson stood up tall and faced the adversity with dignity. She also took advantage to learn while she was locked up, and knowledge on how to make various weapons and other tools to protect oneself became her focus. It was good to know, after all, in the event she faced someone more violent who either simply didn’t like her or was pissed off by something she’d done and said
When the day of her release came, Emerson felt like she was handed another chance with a blank slate at life. She didn’t become more careful or rule abiding, but she tried to be smarter about her decisions. This did not mean she stayed out of the driver’s seat of a car in the drag races for long, but she frequented the races much less. Her mother, however, did not take her back as cheerily as Emerson had hoped. That led to her landing another handful of quick cash jobs to save and get herself a shitty one bedroom apartment to move into. It was small, dingy and definitely in a shady part of town, but it was all hers, and that was what mattered. She lived fine there on her own, and everything felt like it would be okay.
To be foolishly blunt, she were naive and desensitized. She lived through fist fights and rough older brothers and even being put behind bars. So, for the first few days, she paid little attention to the word of outbreaks. She was in the rural part of the already rural Arizona, and that served to keep her blind to what was really happening. In fact, her eyes were only opened when her older step-brother called two days in and stated that her father was dead. She found it odd to hear from him, and she was saddened a bit to hear of the loss, but she was also suddenly taking the outbreak news more seriously.
It was all over the news, but Phoenix was being secured as an exclusion zone. As each day ticked by, the death tolls loomed higher. Social order broke apart rapidly. People in her complex began accusing one another of being infected. When it finally escalated to cold blooded murder, she decided it was time to leave. Em hit the road in her neighbors car and drove faster than she ever had to get to Phoenix where she found safety.
☢ Character Personality:
Unrestrained. That is perhaps the best summary of Emerson. Once she’s set her mind to something that she wants nothing can stop her. She will do whatever it takes to achieve her goal, no matter the cost to herself or others. That being said, whatever does in fact mean whatever. There are few codes she won’t break to accomplish his goals with the only limitation that she won’t actually kill you. Along with that, Em is also pretty self-interested. She doesn’t believe in handouts and, while she can be very helpful, she’ll only ever help out if there’s something in the deal for her to benefit from. There isn’t a job she will do without some form of reciprocation, and she is clever about the work she finds and the compensation she obtains.
When it comes to interpersonal relations, Em isn’t the most proficient- she doesn’t have a wide range of emotion – er, well she does, she just hides it – and it’s rare for her to offer more than her smirks and subtle expressions of contentment. While Em doesn’t necessarily bottle up her emotions, she often doesn’t display them, only because the desire to do so seldom arises, and she prefers to keep others thinking that she is just fine.
She remains at least somewhat guarded around people she’s even close to, which she can count that number of people on one hand. It isn’t about putting on a tough girl facade, but rather, just keeping herself protected. She will still associate with people and build relationships as aloofness isn’t her thing, but don’t expect it to be a walk in the park earning her friendship. Emerson likes to talk, and she’s very good at it, so beware if you are trying to get close to her: she might make you feel like you are when in all actuality you know less about her than what you did going in.
Emerson has a tendency to be a little bit spiteful, and likes to stir shit up just because she can. It’s not in her nature to fight without cause and to attack without being attacked first, but this does not mean she will deflect conflict as her temper is set off as easily as a flash fire in the dry Savannah brush. Be wary if you provoke any icy responses because soon enough, her fist might be forcing your teeth down your throat.
OTHER:
☢ How did your character in the exclusion zone?: At first she was skeptical, but as the news became more apparent she drove from Tucson to Phoenix. She quickly made her way to safety when the opportunity made itself known.
☢ What is your characters current gear that they have on them? Compass, switchblade pocket knife, lighter, condoms, hair ties, tooth brush with half a tube of tooth paste, work boots, bobby pins, glasses, her last few pairs of contacts and contact cleaning solution (this is only while her supplies last), her back pack
☢ Please name at least two character connections:
☢ Lima - Negative - Emerson will always think negatively of law enforcement workers. It’s just how it is. She feels nervous around them, and very stifled as she knows she has to act to a certain level of ‘model citizen’ to deter suspicion.
☢ Juliet - Positive - Emerson likes their resourcefulness. Everything they know and offer is very hands on, far more useful in the apocalyptic situation than anything that requires books and numbers. She sees the potential to learn useful skills from them.
☢ India - Neutral - Although someone who isn’t a fighter, Emerson does believe India holds a lot of potential to be a great survivor. They also offer important knowledge of the city, and their scouting abilities are a necessity for the group to survive.
☢ Golf - Negative - She sees Golf as pretty useless. Documentation and problem solving can be usual in a normal modern world scenario, in Em’s opinion, but there they lack what she considers important survival traits.
☢ Please list at least three headcanons:
☢ Emerson goes by Em, but she never minds her full name. In fact she prefers it by those who aren’t close to her. A childhood nickname of hers was Emac, but it’s long since died after high school years.
☢ Em was the kid who did whatever to decorate her body. She still has one piercing (her septum) and a few tattoos litter her body.
☢ Emerson’s vision is 20/40 at best. When she uses up the last of her contacts she is going to need to rely on her glasses, as much as she doesn’t like to wear them. They’re a simplistic pair with a librarian feel to them, and she can’t stand it.
☢ Her parents and friends called Em an adrenaline junkie growing up, and rightfully so. She will do whatever for a rush even at risk of others around her. She does not care how dangerous a situation may be, she will still attempt it.

☢ Character Backstory:
Mateo grew up in Arizona as a happy go lucky child with a large smile. His parents often received compliments on his temperament when they went out to the store or to restaurants. Mateo was never fussy and always seemed so curious about the world around him. His entire childhood, Mateo wanted a baby brother or sister. At the time his parents couldn’t explain that it wasn’t physically possible for them to have another child. Instead they supplemented it with cousin, nephews, and all sorts of family. Mateo may have grown up without any other biological siblings, but his house was always full of a loud and supporting family. Their dining room table that was supposed to seat six was always had stools and overturned boxes pulled up to it.
School was more of a place to socialize and be around people than preparation for life. College and technical school were never in the cards for him. Dante, his father, was a self made man who started a construction company that did work all over the area. Matt took trips with his family to California, Washington, New Mexico and even Texas. They did large scale installations for shopping malls, business centers, and high scale residential areas. Mateo’s mother Maria was a professional interior decorated, and they often took jobs together. Matt grew up watching the loving, devoted relationship between his parents and knew he wanted a family.
Meeting Suzanne felt like fate. She was the middle child of five and they sat next to each other in alphabetical seating. They met when Suzanne’s family moved to Arizona when Mateo was in sixth grade. Matt felt for her smile almost instantly, and the rest was history. They dated through middle and high school and had three years of prom pictures to prove it. Matt watched his other friends string along girls and make light of relationships but he only had eyes for Suzy and no one else. They were voted most likely to stay together forever when Matt graduated from high school with a solid B average and a job offer from his father. He had to start from the bottom just like Dante did, hauling rebar and shoveling rubble back into the trucks. All of his training was on the job so he didn’t need school, and Suzanne went to the University of Phoenix so she was only a thirty minute drive away.
When Matt was just twenty years old, Suzanne found out she was pregnant. He was over the moon to start a family. Twins were a big surprise, but a welcome one in his eyes. Mateo’s father offered him a promotion he graciously accepted. Although he had only been with the company full time for two years, Matt had been working every summer on demolition crew since he was fourteen; most of the Phoenix area crews knew him and respected him. The foreman job was earned and not given to him out of nepotism and it showed. The twins, Sofia and Gabriella, were born in the summer time. Mateo had a picture perfect life by all accounts, and he was happy and content. Everything was turning out the way it was supposed to.
Of course, that kind of perfection is never permanent. When the twins turned five, Mateo found his wife slipping away from him. Suzanne had grown distant and bored of their relationship, and Matt found himself desperate to stay connected with his extended family. He threw himself into family dinner, lunch dates, babysitting for free, and bulk grocery shopping. That bond took the form with Derrick, Suzanne’s older brother. Matt fell, and he fell hard, for his wife’s straight brother. Nothing came out of it, of course, but even Suzanne could tell there wasn’t any passion left in their relationship. They were friendly, and never fought in front of the girls. In fact, they didn’t fight at all an that was one of the biggest problems. There was nothing Matt could do to fill the widening gap between them.
So when a teaching job at Notre Dame came up, Suzanne took it. The custody battle was nowhere near as nasty as it could have been, and Matt had custody for seventy-five percent of the year. They alternated Spring Break, Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. The entire situation devastated Mateo. His picture perfect family was broken and torn with no way to repair it. He had been married to Suzy for only seven years, but they had started dating when he was thirteen years old. His newfound attraction for men was also not so newfound, but hard to cope with. Mateo went through a string of drunken one-night stands until he woke up in a strangers apartment with no recollection of the evening.
His walk home was one of shame but also one of clarity. Keeping custody of his daughters was the most important thing to him, the last bit of his family he could cling to. The house was already paid off due to some smart investments and some help from his family, so Matt continued to live there despite how empty it felt without his ex-wife. His family supported him, piling the house full of laughter and food and positive energy. Mateo was heartbroken, though, more so over the loss of his dream than the loss of his wife.
So he became the ultimate dad, learning how to french braid Sofia’s hair and sew when Gabrielle ripped through a shoulder of her shirt roughhousing too hard. Matt taught himself how to cook for three, something Suzy had always done, and the food usually turned out edible and flavorful. He went to every PTA and Girl Scout meeting there was, cheered the loudest at gymnastic meets and track practices, made homemade posters complete with glitter glue to the One Direction concert they went to, and even once painted his chest to a football game the girls wanted to go to.
Matt was shameless in his unconditional support and love for his girls and it showed through his actions. He dated, here and there, and work and family always kept him too busy for anything serious. On his first major construction project, the girls were there with him, cutting the ribbon to the build site. There were no secrets he kept from the girls, save for his own sexuality and dating life. When the girls got older, that was a different conversation to be had.
And that’s how life was, right up into Zed Day. Suzy had the girls for Thanksgiving weekend, which meant Mateo was supposed to pick them up from the airport and got to keep them through Christmas break. Except Thanksgiving came and went, and Black Friday took a whole different meaning. Mateo was on a job site when the government stormed in, demanding the land through some official looking paperwork for an ‘exclusionary zone’. Mateo and Dante had to comply, of course. When the National guard was waving a M16 in your face it didn’t feel like much of a choice.
☢ Character Personality:
Mateo is that guy who always has a smile on his face. He’s a family man through and through and attaches easily to people and always wants to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is good and bad depending in the situation and can lead to him getting taken advantage of when he isn’t careful enough. Mateo’s mother always said there were two types of people in the world: givers and takers. Mateo is a giver, through and through. He loves to take care of people and finds comfort in comforting others. His family has always been his first priority, and taking care of his daughters was his entire life before Zed Day. Now that they’re halfway across the country and Matt cannot make contact with them, he feels like someone’s pulled the rug out from under him.
Mateo can be too idealistic at times. He is a true nurturer and likes to give every part of himself even when it isn’t necessary. Sometimes he can put people too high up on pedestals, like his ex-wife, which can be too much pressure on them. Matt loves people so strongly it can be a detriment to his relationships with those around him. There is a small voice in the back of Mateo’s head that blames himself for not having his daughters. If he had only tried harder, gave his marriage and wife more attention, maybe they could have been together for Zed Day. It’s the small what-ifs - are they alive? are they okay? why can’t he just call them damnit? - that keep Matt up at night, fidgeting and restless. In the absence of his two daughters, the two things he’s dedicated his life to, Matt will struggle to fill that gap by taking care of other people to a fault. If he can’t save his girls, he’s going to make damn sure he saves everyone else. Even if it costs him his life.
OTHER:
☢ How did your character in the exclusion zone?:
Matt’s was the foreman on site for the construction zone that the Government took over for an exclusion zone. Mateo can say he was one of the first citizens inside of the zone.
☢ What is your characters current gear that they have on them? (this can be weapons, ammo, food, clothing, personal items, etc. Please make this reasonable with what your character can carry and find in a state of emergency.)
Despite his numerous promotions, Mateo still dresses sensibly on any job site. He was in a pair of steel toed boots, heavy duty work pants, a button down shirt, an orange vest and a yellow hard hat. Matt was able to grab his tool belt, which makes too much noise when trying to be stealthy, that was equipped with his normal, every day work tools. He also has a multi-tool that was some competitor of a Swiss army knife that he forgot the name of. In his truck was also some basic camping supplies, including basic nonperishables, water tabs for purification, a couple of small, fold-able cookware, and two sleeping bags, big enough for a single adult or two children. In addition to the tools on his tool belt Matt has a heavy one and a half hand grip hammer that is smaller than a sledge hammer but bigger than the standard size one he has on his belt. Mateo also has his wallet, which has multiple pictures on it, and his necklace the girls bought for him on his thirtieth birthday.
☢ Please name at least two character connections: (These are one-sided connections at this time. This is the place to list if you’d like a sibling, ex-lover, current lover, friend, enemy, etc. You can make open-ended connections as well that are not filled currently or one-sided connections. See if the wanted connections page for any questions. The more connected the group, the better the roleplay experience can be, so don’t be shy!)
☢ Delta - Suspicious. For Matt to feel distrustful of someone is almost unheard. There’s something about Delta that is just too good to be true and Matt can’t put his finger on it. If there’s one person he distrusts most in the group right now, it’s Delta. Hopefully - Matt hopes at least - they’ll prove him wrong.
☢ India - Respect. Between his knowledge of construction and their knowledge of the area, Matt knows if something bad happens he wants to stay close to them. If anyone knows a safe way out of Phoenix, it’s India. That’s an important skill to have. It helps that they vaguely remind Matt of Gaby, too.
☢ Future Connection - Mateo (cis male, 34) is looking for a casual FWBs. The zombie apocalypse is stressful and lord knows that Matt needs a distraction. Any skeleton, any gender, character age 24+ who would be willing to approach Matt first. He’s a little old-fashioned when it comes to relationships but isn’t looking for anything serious. He may bring you flowers if he find some. Warning.
☢ Open Connection - Mateo (cis male, 34) did not have any biological siblings, but had a huge family support system. If anyone wants a loose familial connection this is open! Any skeleton, any gender, character age differs depending on roles. Mateo’s faceclaim is of Spanish descent for any ethnicity matching.
☢ Please list at least three headcanons:
☢ Mateo has a gorgeous intricate tattoo over the left side of his chest. It’s a very detailed picture of a heart with his daughters names running through the patterns. Matt made sure to get it with bright colors, blues and reds and pinks. It took around eight hours to complete due to the intricacies of it all.
☢ Mateo writes letters to his daughter whenever he has a spare minute. He keeps them in an old, waterproof binder clipboard he used to carry for work as well as tiny, silly momentos his girls made for him growing up.
☢ In Matt’s wallet are multiple pictures. He had to buy an extra insert just to hold them all. Some of his favorites are: his graduation day picture with Suzy and his entire family, Matt holding the twins for the first time, Sofia and Gabriella’s first day of preschool, a Disney world selfie with Matt and the twins, all in personalized Mickey and Minnie ears, and a couple more. In the longer part of his wallet is a photo strip of five pictures from Chuck E. Cheese that Matt’s held onto as well.
☢ Mateo identifies as bisexual. He’s very careful to keep his romantic (or other) relationships away from the girls. Matt’s very private when it comes to sex, but he isn’t a prude or innocent. What’s done is the bedroom is no one’s business but his own.
☢ Matt is really missing his cup of coffee. On morning where it was hard to roll out of bed at 0430, he really loved having that little kick. He’s an early riser and rarely sleeps past day break.
☢ When it comes to alcohol Mateo is - embarrassingly- a light weight. After a beer he has a solid buzz and a big sloppy smile on his face. Matt was never much of a drinker, unless he was hanging out with friends socially.

YOUR CHARACTER’S POWERS
Evan's power of emotion manipulation allows him to transfer emotions that he's feeling onto others around him, however Evan has no control over who he pushes the emotions off onto or what emotions they receive, only able at the moment to just shove whatever he's feeling and however strong he's feeling it away from himself and onto someone else. The only control Evan actually has over the power is in choosing to get rid of the emotion and when he does he's left without feeling entirely. In fact when he looks back on those particular memories he still can't even tap into emotions associated with them even long after the fact.
IN CHARACTER JOURNAL ENTRY
Dear Diary (i.e. the GUARD member creepily trying to stalk my inner thoughts, hello to you too~)
'Sup? You know what I hate? What I really, really hate? Packing. Packing sucks. I'm thinking about that now because I'm realizing that the second worst thing in the world is unpacking and I have way too much of that to do. This really isn't fair. It would be so much cooler if I could move stuff with my mind or something. I'd never have to get off the couch for pizza again! Ah, if only. But I suppose you didn't mean my life right now in this instance and you were asking about my autobiography. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for my tell all book, but if you treat me right maybe I'll even sign it for you later.
But, to start, I was born in a log cabin my father built with his own two hands, out in the untamed and wonderful wilderness. By wilderness I mean downtown LA and by log cabin I mean high class condo and by 'built with his own hands' I mean he did nothing and his family bought it for him. But I digress. That was where I grew up. With my dad. Supposedly my mom was there too but she cut and run pretty quickly (I am intimidatingly attractive, it's a curse, I know). So it was just me and dear ol' dad and all our happy fun times. What more could you ask for in life? But then dear ol' dad kicked the bucket and I moved in with mommy dearest. She thought I was crazy. And then you people came along and told her that I was just... 'special'. You should know that it doesn't make it any nicer, no matter how much you try to avoid the word freaks.
What was it that you wanted me to say? Did you want the sob story of how much my life sucked before coming to you? Too bad. I'm really not good at giving people what they want, I always find a way to mess it up. You'll realize that before long. Somehow I don't imagine you'll enjoy having me around as much as I'll enjoy being around, but that's just how it goes. Because maybe I was sent here against my will and maybe everyone who's ever legitimately cared for me is dead but, strangely enough, I get the feeling you guys will be the ones feeling bad.
Sincerely,
Your newest, bestest friend in the whole wide world!
CHARACTER CHANGES

HEADCANONS
Evan does not like animals and instead actually has a pet rock (complete with glued on googly eyes) which he has dubbed Rocky.
His favorite type of music is rap. Not for the lyrical qualities of it or how poetic it can occasionally be, he simply likes to blast the worst raps songs he can find to annoy people.
Actually a very big nerd, Evan participated in everything from the chess club to D&D club and was very close to being a valedictorian before the death of his father and his resulting move.
Openly bisexual, Evan flirts with most people he meets at some point or another mostly because he simply enjoys flirting.
Evan has only ever been in one relationship where he was dumped after being deemed emotionally unavailable.
