Sometimes Steve thought about how their lives had managed to become even stranger, more unstable than they were before.
Bouncing from motel to motel. Chasing leads where they could. Covert check-ins in Iowa, San Francisco, and Wakanda. Staying three, four, five steps ahead of Ross and his goons.
It was hard. It was exhausting.
And yet, as Steve laid awake - Sam sleeping soundly in his arms, Wanda and Nat in the room next door, and as certain as he could be that the others were safe, too - he couldn’t regret his choice.
A/N: Is it Steve's birthday? No. Did I have a lot of fun writing this? Yes!

Sam just wants Steve to have a good birthday away from all his Captain American duties.
One of Sam’s love languages is sharing, sharing memories, sharing experiences, and food even. It makes Steve and Sam perfect together as Sam introduces Steve to worlds of different things.
"Have you ever been to IHop," Sam asks looking to the ceiling, still in bed on July the 4th, with no real plans of moving.
Steve laughs rolling on his side so he can look at his boyfriend "No I have not, Tony always said it was like discount breakfast."
Sam hums at the comment still looking at the roof. "We could go if you want?" Steve offers but Sam shakes his head rolling over to now look back into Steve's eyes "it's your birthday, I shouldn't be the one making the decisions. Where do you want to go for breakfast?" Steve laughs moving closer, covers surrounding them.
He hugs Sam, head resting on the man's chest, "mimosas and brunch, we should invite the team." Sam smiles at the kindness Steve still has, even on his birthday he wants to share the day.
Share it more than just with America (which from a war veteran's point of view is a big day). "I'll text the group chat," Sam goes to grab his phone. That’s another thing Sam likes to do, share with the whole group all of the Avengers he loves team training and movie nights, he likes to share.
"hmm, later," Steve says continuing to curl into the arms Sam places around him.
Sam laughs just maybe not sharing Steve, "if I text later they won't know." ‘urghhh,’ is the small response he gets back, Steve is clearly tired and done with the conversation already. "Just un-koala m for 2 seconds so I can tell them brunch and mimosas on 7th street, 11am?" Steve does as said and unhooks moving away and grabbing one of the spare pillows instead. Sam is highly offended "don't just replace me! It's only a text!"
Steve pokes his tongue out, "it's my birthday," he mumbles snuggling back into the pillow and if that doesn't make Sam rush the text, spelling mistake be dammed, the team will figure it out.
He hooks his leg over Steve, grabbing the pillow and throwing it to the side of the bed for Figaro to snatch at and sleep on, ever the cat-dog she is. "I love you," Steve mumbles onto Sam's lips "I love you too," Sam smiles, "birthday boy." Steve snoring along, warmed nicely head in Sam’s lap, Sam’s fingers in Steve’s hair. This is what he deserves, it’s what he loves.
This fandom event will run from October 2021 to December 2022.
What is it?
It’s a fandom bingo focused on the relationship of the Marvel characters Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers. This event will run for the rest of 2021 and the entirety of 2022. Each bingo card will have 5x5 squares. The bingo squares will feature different prompts, and you can make any form of content to suit these prompts based on your own interpretation. The bingo squares will feature the following types of prompts:
single-word prompts
emotion prompts
tropes
AUs
character prompts
holiday prompts
genre prompts
NSFW (18+ only)
How is SamSteve Bingo 2022 run?
This event is mainly run via Tumblr and AO3, where we reblog content created for this event every day. Please tag @samstevebingo2022 in your post and include #samstevebingo2022 within your first 5 Tumblr tags to ensure we see your post so we can reblog it! If your content isn’t reblogged within 48 hours, chances are we missed it - please message us on Tumblr to let us know <3</li>
We have created a collection on AO3 for you to include your fanworks in if you wish.
Event announcements will be posted on Tumblr and emailed to you (unless you opt out of the mailing list).
There are no plans to create a Discord server for this event, but if there are enough requests we will consider making one :)

After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours.

9th October 2021 to 31 March 2022: Sign ups open
8th November 2021: Bingo cards will be issued based on when you signed up, starting from Monday 8th November 2021.
October 2021 to 1st December 2022: fanwork creation and posting period
1st April 2022 to 1st November 2022: Late sign ups open
11 December 2022: Last day to post creations for this bingo to be added to the collections!
12 December 2022: Due date for masterpost
How do I sign up?

In this form, you will be asked your preferences of bingo squares, any ‘icks’ you would not want, and if you’d like NSFW prompts.
After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email. You should then receive your bingo card in your email starting from 8th November 2021 onwards. If you sign up after the 8th November 2022, you should receive your card within one week. If not, please let us know via Tumblr DM or email us at [email protected]
You can request up to 10 bingo squares to be changed for your bingo card
You can request a second bingo card only when you complete your bingo card (see next section about what constitutes a completion)
How do late sign ups work?
Late sign ups will be open from 1st April 2022 to 1st November 2022.
For late sign ups, you will not be able to choose preferences for your bingo squares, BUT you can still request up to 10 bingo squares to be changed for your bingo card.
How do I complete a bingo card?
Filling 5 squares in a row (in any direction) on your card makes a completion.
You can also complete a ‘blackout’ by creating for all of your bingo squares.
When you complete your card, please fill in this form in order to receive your badge and be featured in our next roundup :)
Can we create NSFW content for non-NSFW prompts?
Yes, as long as you confirm to be 18+ in your sign up prompt. Please tag appropriately!
Do we get badges for achievements?
For any bingo card you complete, you will receive a 300x300 px sam/steve badge specific to the month of your completion :) We will aim to release the badge in the next 1 or 2 months after your completion.
For any ‘blackout’ you complete, you will receive a 600x600px samsteve artwork that will be created for everyone who achieves a ‘blackout’ (It is NOT a custom artwork for one person, but an artwork that will be created for this achievement, see it as a bigger version of a badge).
UPDATE: Due to other commitments of the mod, there won’t be badges created for the bingo event for now. If there is anyone who would like to volunteer to create badges, please DM the blog <3

Please don’t create fanworks that are prejudiced against certain demographics, i.e. content that is racist, sexist, etc. Any fanworks of this sort will not be reblogged.
What type of content can I make for each bingo square?
Any type of fandom content you wish! If you’d like some guidelines of several common types of creations, see below. These aren’t strict however. You can do anything you’d like!
Minimum requirements/guidelines:
Fanfiction: 300 words
Illustration & photo manips: 300x300px for digital art, 3” x 3” for traditional
Pod fic: 5 minutes, plus written permission from the original author
Moodboard: 3x3 pictures

Does the Sam/Steve relationship have to be romantic?
No, it doesn’t. It can be platonic, or as co-workers, or anything else you wish, as long as their relationship is depicted in a positive light.

He knew the letters were some horrible prank by Hodge. They had to be. No one ever gave Steve a second glance. Not even Natasha’s attempts to help had ever done much but confirm his fears. Why would things change now?
Despite that, Steve kept them all, committed each letter to memory, and couldn’t help the flutter of excitement he felt when their author wanted to meet face-to-face.
He walked nervously through the library, part of him so, so sure that another humiliation was waiting for him at the end. But as he turned to the fantasy section, Steve’s breath left him at the sight of his chemistry partner, Sam.
“You’re Redwing?”
“Technically, my bird is. I thought that’d give me away, but I guess even that was too subtle,” Sam teased with a grin that was warm as the sun.
Steve smiled back, his insides now turned to jelly. “Yeah, I’m not good at subtle.”
