Hi DOOM Eternal fans of tumblr do you want to hear some incessant rambling of someone who just discovered the CE lore book and is a complete and utter Hayden simp? No? Well too bad cause I'm here and I need to share this before it leaves my brain. Hot spoiler warning for like, the entirety of the game but don't be surprised if it's inaccurate, I'm a forgetful thing.

I'm just gonna start out with the fact that I disliked the majority of Eternal's writing for Hayden in the base game, I feel like he was very mischaracterized as "guy that explains too much" but this sheet here really feels like the best descriptor of him despite it's shortness. "Dressed in vanity iron and idolizing his own abhorrent form" is probably my favorite part of this because Sam always came across as very self-absorbed, maybe even narcissistic at times? I feel this is really accented in TAG 1 as the Slayer follows his instructions to a near-T in UAC Atlantic and brought him back closer to his 2016 characterization.

Not my main point here though. I want to talk about this section:

"In his betrayal we shall smelt his pig iron in the fire to forge blade and armor from his carcass, so that he may mark our retribution as tools for our campaign."

And also by extension, the opening - "His breath smells not of man."

Now, who's perspective is this from?

Hayden's cyborg body was reportedly destroyed by Hell, but the text reads from the Sentinel's perspective to me. There is probably no canon relation between the Sentinel's writing about ripping Hayden apart and Hell doing that themselves, but what if? There are technically Sentinel warriors from Hell.

You know, these guys:

There's probably more of a chance that this is from the Maykr's POV describing Samur's betrayal and their disdain for his actions, but I feel it's a peculiar choice if so considering the page is accented with the Sentinel's scripture.

so i started the ancient gods part 1 for doom eternal after a while of not touching the game. here’s the UAC Atlantica in a nutshell:
