margaret qualley, the woman that you are.
i think as a society we have gotten too cozy with the idea that any relationship will work as long as you attempt yourself at fitting this idea they have of what a ‘perfect partner’ looks like. and vice versa. this is something i deeply do not understand because, although it’s important to improve yourself constantly in a relationship, you can’t work against your own grain. your partner can’t expect you to speak to them in song if you can’t hear yourself sing. you have levels, some you can change and some you can’t. your appearance, maybe your personality too, are things editable. but your *nature* your *soul*, is completely inherent to you. some people won’t ever get *YOU*, so they’ll tell you you have to be something more figment than real. i could almost hate these people. but much of what they are is illusory themselves, so i mostly pity them. they find people who are actually faithful to their own spirit threatening. their own deficiencies of self are projected onto you. god i hate that. why would a cynic and a poet even be in the same room?
anyway, all this is just my version of a cliche ‘be yourself’ lecture. but seriously, people seeing through you isn’t the same as SEEING YOU.
pervertedly,
