So, the whole "Mamdani lied! His aunt isn't his aunt she's his dad's cousin so his 1st cousin once removed!!" Bull shit is t about the mayoral election. It's about starting the smear campaign for his senatorial and gubinatorial races that hell undoubtedly have, if his popularity is any indication.

See, here's the thing. White people do the whole "older person whose related to me, or parents friends = aunt/uncle regardless, and around my age/generation/kids of parents friends = cousin" thing too. But, not generally WASP whites. WASPs also tend to be from wealthier backgrounds, at least on the east Coast there seems to be an element of that. And within wealthy WASP circles there's this thing about trashy poors vs. good poors and trashy poors do the everyone's and aunt/uncle/cousin thing.

It's not about THIS election. It's about drawing a class line in the sand. It's about district and state demographics. It's about upholding white supremacist and classist systems within our country.
