hello! I jus tread thru your intro to runes and honestly thank you so much for making taht post <3 I'm a fledling witch and the descriptions and reassurance is worth gold <3 <3 <3 I want to ask you tho, how does reversed runes work? And what is sigyls? I've never understood that :x

So first off, I wanna clarify: which post did you read? I don’t recall making a rune intro post myself, and I don’t wanna take credit where it belongs to someone else. If I wrote it awesome, but if its someone elses hard work I wanna make sure they get the credit!

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, I do have a fair amount of experience with runes and can answer your questions!

Reversed runes work very much the same way reversed tarot cards work. They appear upside down when you’re pulling/ casting the runes. Being upside down gives them a slightly different meaning when they are upright. With runes they typically take on a slightly more negative or warning tone when reversed. It’s not exactly the complete opposite of what they meant upright.

Sigils are super fun! I don’t work with them a whole lot, but when I do they’re really nice. They’re basically a drawing of your intention that’s charged and activated by you creating it. They’re really great because they can go anywhere on anything with different intentions/ meanings and can just look like a cute doodle if someone asks. They work for any intentions like I said.

The way I create sigils is I think the most common way I’ve heard but its not the only way. You start by writing out your intention down. Use something short, specific, and present oriented. “I am loved” is a good one. The point is to manifest the energy into your life, so doing it future tense means its always gonna be in your future yeah?

Once you have your intention, take out all the vowels. so “I am loved” becomes M, L, V, D. Some people say to take out repeated letters as well. I think that’s up to you. If I have too many letters then I’ll take out repeats. From there, you rearrange the letters, or shapes of the letters (M becomes two straight lines and two slightly angled lines) to create an image. Some people say it should look as little like the original letters as possible, as you want to forget its original intention. That comes from the chaos magic side of things, where sigils may have originated from (I say may have because I haven’t done enough of my own research to claim 100% yes/no on that)

Sigils like I said are great. You can draw them on a piece of paper and burn them, you can draw them on the bottom of a mug with honey, or a pot with melting butter or oil, you can draw them on your skin with either a pen, or your make up and then rub it in. There’s honestly so much you can do with them, and there’s a lot of great resources on Tumblr if you wanna check out more. This was just a quick and dirty explanation that hopefully answers your questions!

Selesnya: Who would you die for?As long as they’re not doing something dumb, my friends. As much as I love my friends, they’re on their own if they’re doing something that will get themselves hurt/killed needlessly.

Naya: Where do you feel at peace?It really just depends on my mood at the time. Sometimes it’s with friends, sometimes it’s with an IDE open, other times it could just be watching youtube or reading a book. As far as locations go, probably near the ocean. Beaches are always calming and beautiful.
