Honestly it's the way Rochester notices Jane without her realizing it for me like so you're telling me that during the first night he's back with his party and she's hiding in the background feeling completely alienated, disconnected from everyone, reeling over what she feels is an undeserved and unrequited love for Rochester, she spends the whole night watching him, thinking he's not paying her an ounce of attention, but when she's finally had enough and escapes HE GOES AFTER HER AND TELLS HER HE CAN SEE SOMETHING IS MAKING HER SAD??!!!
