Rammstein mention - interview Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt of the band Sandow

In the early days of the band Rammstein played as opening act for the, at the time, more famous band Sandow. In this interview, Sandow-frontman Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt, mentions Rammstein, from abt 0h50.

Kai-Uwe also says he wouldn't want to trade with Rammstein, because at some point you become a slave to your own succes. Rammstein can't just change their music if they want, the fan wouldn't go along with it. One guitarist has a solo-project, but had to shelve that for a while, because it was too different musically and didn't interest the Rammstein fan.

He tells how Rammstein used to be an opening act for Sandow, that they slept on the floor of Sandow's hotelrooms, got 300 marks for a gig, but the determination to make it, was already there at the time. Already at the time it was pretty intense to go on stage after them.

Only a short mention, but if you understand german and are also interested in other german bands of the era, it's worth a listen.. 🍀

Ah yes, November. The time of the year I get obsessed with East German rock and punk music, once again.

(Also, Bruce friends: this song was heavily inspired by Bruce playing in East-Berlin in 1988, which you can guess from the title and the distinct riff, but also the line: "Ich habe 160 Tausend Menschen gesehen / die sangen so schön" ("I have seen 160 thousand people / who sang so beautifully") which refers to the number of people attending the concert, singing along to Born in the USA.)
