17, 19, 24. :D
17. Are you glad the Last Battle isn't in the published Silmarillion?
... I’m not sure about this one. On one hand, it’s one prophecy less (I’ve never been a fan of prophecies, nor the way Tolkien uses them), but on the other hand I find the whole idea of the Last Battle and the Second Music very... fascinating. It offers a gazillion new possibilities, narrative-wise, and I often find myself wondering what lies beyond the Dagor Dagorath. So I guess I’m glad there’s an account of it somewhere, but I’m certainly not mourning its absence from the published Silmarillion.
19. You get to save one character from dying. What would they do instead?
My first thought was Fingon, because his death pains me the most and he’s a perfect cinnamon roll, too precious for this world, but that’s my hurt little heart speaking, and I know I wouldn’t enjoy his... survival as much as Fëanor’s or Celebrimbor’s (I know he’s not technically IN the Silmarillion, but he’s in the BOOK called Silmarillion, so it counts, because I say so). I just want angry, ruthless Fëanorians seeking vengeance, ok? Ok.
24. Your job is to write The Silmarillion:The Musical. What is one of the songs?
Probably I’d just go for an Epic Rap Battle of History between Melkor and Eru, right in the beginning. The whole musical would probably be super The Producers style.
... who gave me this job.
