1. What is Tumblr Tracks Santa?

Tumblr Tracks Santa is a blog capturing the magic of NORAD Tracks Santa (a famous Santa tracker) in the early 2000’s. Back then, in order to know where Santa is on Christmas Eve, you had to wait 15-30 minutes for the website to refresh OR you could call or email NORAD and a representative would respond with a personalized message telling you where Santa is. The delayed gratification was part of the experience, and Tumblr Tracks Santa aims to recreate that!

2. How does Tumblr Tracks Santa work?

Every 30-60 minutes, on December 24th, 2025, a real human specially trained in Santa Tracking will update this blog with Santa’s location in the world, with a caveat: Only one human is running this blog, and this human sleeps, eats, and has things to do outside of this project on Christmas Eve. I will try my best to update as much as I can, but I am not magic like Santa is! Tumblr Tracks Santa operates out of Central Standard Time, so the timestamps will reflect that.

If you’d like a more immediate, personalized answer as to where Santa is, you may send an ask or a message saying, “Where’s Santa?” and I will get back to you as quickly as one minute later or as late as a few hours (again, just one human!). This is completely optional, but you may also share some information about yourself that would help me make your message more personalized, like your name (could be a fake pseudonym - in fact, I encourage this) or what you want for Christmas this year!

3. Who can send asks and/or send messages? Are there limits to how many times I ask?

Anyone with a Tumblr account can ask where Santa is! Please comply with Tumblr’s guidelines that you must be 13 or older to make a Tumblr account. If you would like to ask on behalf of your child, your younger sibling, etc. that is fine as long as it is you asking! There are no limits on how many times you ask.

4. Is this blog family-friendly?

Yes, this blog is family-friendly! I cannot guarantee that anyone interacting with this blog is family-friendly, so please use discretion before opening notes.

5. Are you affiliated with Tumblr? Are you affiliated with Santa?

I am not affiliated with either Tumblr or Santa, I just really enjoy tracking Santa every year and want to share that joy with you all!
