Weird Al made a Christmas movie where he played a villain who was kidnapping Santa’s elves, but people thought it was real and he got taken to court over it. There were posts all over Tumblr and Twitter about how he was now problematic whether he did it or not because even if he didn’t he still ENDORSED elf-kidnapping by playing this character.

Nothing says “Christmas” quite like pop culture titans, “filth elders” and Studio 54 habitués Andy Warhol (as Santa Claus) and a visibly inebriated Truman Capote (as an elf) on the December 1978 front cover of High Times magazine! The photo-shoot (by Mick Rock) took place on 26 September 1978. In his diaries for that date, Warhol recalls that “Truman was really drunk, hugging around” and that the original intention was for Truman to don female drag (art director for High Times Toni Brown “had a Santa costume for me and a little girl outfit for Truman. But Truman wasn’t in the mood to go into drag, he said that he was already dressed like a little boy”).

That special was the corniest thing I ever watched as a kid. From the main characters voice to the plot. That song still makes me smile though...

They should have made it a 2D movie, it would have looked slightly better and they should have gotten a different voice for Eubie - he almost sounds creepy.
