Finally got in to Chef Rick's new spot in Orcutt and a couple of the dishes were absolute grand slams. This penne with shrimp, chicken and andouille would have ABSOLUTELY WON the mac & cheese fest I judged a few weeks ago. Easily. Creamy and rich, dripping with umami but not stuffy or weird. As all who are aware of Chef Manson's cooking probably assume, everything at the new spot has a southern or Creole twist to it. Chef Rick's is back! Not much more to say about this icon than that.
