Deck the Halls with Cookies and Christmas Trees
This time of year had always been a favourite of Piper's. The crisp winter air and the bright, festive displays cropping up everywhere in the city and the suburbs. It'd been that way since she was young. Back then, and even now if she was honest, any squabbling she and her sisters indulged in was temporarily derailed in favour of getting everything ready for the celebrations.
And boy did they throw one heck of a celebration at the Halliwell residence every year. This year in particular was special as it was the first that she and Leo would be spending together as a married couple. She was hoping, in the back of her mind, as she rummaged in the attic for all the Christmas tree decorations, that the Elders wouldn't mess anything up and Leo would at least get to spend some of the build up to Christmas and the actual day with them.
So far that hope seemed to be holding firm, Leo was still working, but he was always back at a fairly regular time and for that she was grateful. Even though she knew they'd never have a normal life, that little bit of normalcy made her feel much more content in herself.
She was humming happily to herself as she pulled out the last box of baubles and other assorted knick-knacks, carefully stacking two of them on top of one another and lifting them as she prepared to make the perilous trek down the stairs.
In heinsight, It'd have probably been a better move to ask Leo to help her with this, but as it was she wasn't entirely sure if he was even in the house at the moment. All she knew was that if she didn't get downstairs quickly the decorations would be the least of her worries. She'd been so caught up in finding the boxes that she'd temporarily forgotten that she'd left her christmas cookies baking in the oven, and as she glanced at the clock her eyes widened as she realised just how long she'd been up in the attic.
The thought of using a spell to move the boxes and free her up to go and rescue her precious baking came to mind but was rejected just as quickly "Personal gain Piper, that's a big no no remember?" she muttered as she gingerly made her way down the attic staircase, being careful not to catch the boxes on the railings and send them and her flying.
She was nearing the bottom when she heard the distinct sound of footsteps below her. The familiar sound of heavy work boots; signifying it Phoebe and Cole back from their date, or Paige whom Piper was sure wasn't in the house at present, so that left only one choice. Unable to hold back a grin she made her way to the main staircase and called down "Hey hon, think you could help me with these? My cookies need rescuing and I only have one pair of hands!"
