     A love hotel was sort of a shameful place to conduct business, but it was a good way to cover one’s tracks. If anyone found out Tosaki had rented a room, they’d assume it was for a hookup, not to hide a hostage for an hour or two while changing their base of operations. Not to mention it was already such a shady place, it was easier to keep the staff silent than it would be at a regular hotel.

     So, Tosaki swallowed his pride and approached the receptionist.

     “I need a room for two hours. And--” he pulled out his wallet and produced about thirty thousand yen, which he held out to the young man. “--I also need you to keep your mouth shut about anyone you see me with. Do you understand?”

     It wasn’t a lot of money, but the receptionist looked young enough to be easily bought. Besides, it left him plenty of wiggle room in case he needed to up the bribe.
