Look, I've attempted animating things perhaps 10 times in my life, but I've been re-reading @saphronethaleph's fic Harry Is A Dragon, and That's Okay for like the fifth time -- and I knew that I had to give this little animation a shot.

Ash Ketchum, but from Saphroneth’s fic Accidental Apotheosis, where, upon taking the potion in the Johto arc that in canon turned him into a pikachu, Ash instead becomes into a pokemon that nobody recognises. And then it turns out he’s not turning back...

Anyway, we just wanted to draw Asheus and this also included trying to work out his saddlebags, which is a Concept, since Ash’s body shape is, as Arceus’s is, kinda weird in the torso region. Ended up with the final design using the Hoenn bag pattern (but have included two of our earlier versions from before we ended up staring at llama saddles for ages.) We figure with this design, the bags can be usually clipped open for ease of access, but closed if needed, for instance if it rains.

Pikachu is obviously present for the final piece, and his Unown from the fic is here too, represented as A (although I did contemplate ? form, or maybe doing a lowercase Alpha or something, but A is fitting enough and capital Alpha is pretty much, just the letter A)

What’s your favorite category of story? For me, it’s Crack-Taken-Seriously, my favorite author for it is Saphroneth. They’re currently doing a Pokémon story, ‘Legendarily Popular’, where Ash’s luck gets turned up a bit. Past 11.

Ooh, I love that genre! It enables exploring of a lot of bizarre, creative ideas, while really digging into the implications and side effects of them.

I hadn't heard of "Legendarily Popular", but I do love some of Saphroneth's work, Ashes of the Past in particular. There's a reason it's the most popular Pokemon fic of all time. It shows how you can do the Strong! Smart! character trope without performing character assassination on anyone, or breaking the story in half like a twig.
