Ok so here’s the story.
Recently there are some problems in my country - lets focus on one for now:
The tree massacre caused by recent law changes called “Szyszko’s law” or “Lex Szyszko” after our Minister of Envronment Jan Szyszko.
Long story short - the law allows people to cut down any trees if they are growing on their private land.
Yes - if you own a land you can cut down even a hundreds-years old tree without even informing the local authorities.
That is if you don’t plan any investment on that piece of land (but you can sell it to someone else who does - go figure).
In the end within just few months there were THOUSANDS of trees cut down.
Some people went rampant and still broke the law by cutting down trees that didn’t even belong to them.
To add more salt the Minister Szyszko fails to see this as a problem (this guy publicly states that environment is to be managed and not protected as the Bible says the man is supposed to “subdue the land”).
The law is still going to be changed but it’s been stuck at “work in progress” since February and the massacre continues.
Therefore I decided to make a change - however small it’d be.
First - in February I found some old (at least 3 years) pine seeds I kept in a jar and planted 7 of them.
Five of them sprouted after a bit over a week and grew steadily under cover.
Unfortunately 2 didn’t root properly and despite my best efforts withered when I started watering them regularly.
This leaves me with 3 pine saplings from the first picture (I didn’t name them as I am still worrying how many of them will survive).
Secondly - doing some gardenwork I noticed a large number of maple trees have sprouted - unfortunately for them - on the flower bed I was going to work on.
Sadly I had to destroy them. I did however choose one of them and replanted it in a small pot I brought home.
After two weeks it seems to be growing nicely. It really likes the place I chose for it and started to grow a second layer of true leaves as you can notice on the pictures above.
Thus I decided it’s the time ‘it’ became ‘he’ and I named my little maple tree.
From today on he’s called Bolvar and I really hope he’ll grow to be a strong and a beautiful tree.
