5, 9, or 12 for the fanfic meme!
5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet?
ha, i'm trying to remember what you haven't seen a piece of yet :P this one is currently just titled 'knife lesbians,' but as you can see it's uh entirely sweet and fluffy, yeah, that's it...
Moiraine turned her face up to the hot Tairen sun and sighed in delight. The wood of their dock was warm and smooth through her thin shift; water lapped gently around the pilings and birds sang in the trees. The soft sweet scent of summer flowers drifted by on a breeze. She could count on one hand the times they’d been here during the afternoon, much less been able to stay for more than a few brief hours. Now they had nearly two whole days to luxuriate in together, and she could feel her shoulders steadily unknotting.
There was a wet smack on the wood next to her and a cool shower of droplets shivered over her bare arms. She blinked her eyes open slowly — bliss, not to be always on guard — and smiled to meet Siuan’s amused gaze.
Bare-chested and with her trouser legs rolled up, though they were damp and clinging regardless, Siuan stood knee-deep in the river, looking as though the words ‘Tar Valon’ had never so much as been spoken in her vicinity. The Sisters who’d voted her the youngest Amyrlin ever just weeks ago would barely have recognised her. Moiraine smiled at the thought: this version of Siuan was hers alone. Her grin was wide and cocky and her hair cascaded around her face and over her shoulders, ringlets curling tighter where the water had splashed them. Moiraine leaned down, twining one unruly strand around her fingers, and kissed Siuan’s temple just for the pleasure of the action.
9. Short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in January?
*gestures above* i have to sit down with my knife lesbians and do some edits. i don't know if it'll be this week (gosh that would be nice though) but it had better be this month! also a ficathon fic i need to get back to and some of the other pieces i'm working on.......... uh but yes definitely the above. :| i don't need help. i'm fine.
12. Will you change anything about the way you edit or rewrite this year?
ughhhhhh i'm always trying to get better at editing! one of the reasons i really miss coffee shops is because i used to write everything by hand and do a first pass edit when i typed it up. in theory i could still do that at my kitchen table, but that feels significantly sillier. :P i'm just trying to get better and more intentional about doing multiple passes. i forget the writing metaphor about people who think for a long time and then write relatively coherently versus people who start with something sketchier and then uncover more and more within what they've already put down - oh, architects versus gardeners. i used to think of myself as an architect, but i think i am becoming more of a gardener, and i would like to figure out how best to lean into that without getting terribly perfectionistic about it all. (i say this as something i want to do, but it also absolutely requires a good beta, of course.)
