Aaaaaa it’s really hard to choose...... I’ve loved Gil for way longer obviously, but I’ve been fixating on Asclepius so much lately ;;-;; And every time I see either of them I just 💕💕

I’m gonna say that overall in the big picture Gil is my ultimate fave, but right now in this moment I care a lot more about Asclepius because he’s a newer fave and I’ve been so fixated on him and fleshing out headcanons for him OTL

Well since you asked, Gil and Kirei?

I’m not sure which one you wanted so I’ll just do the “3 facts about this character from my personal canon/fanon” one if that’s okay 👀 (let me know if you wanted something different)

Gil:

Gil is a Touch Starved motherfucker and whenever he is with someone romantically he will literally always be seen hanging off of them but trying to act like he’s not

Gil is actually a very adept swordsman he’s just. Very very out of practice due to thousands of years of just throwing his shit at people

If Gil ever gets injured he refuses to let anyone know because he can’t show weakness as a King and Certified Dumbass

Kirei:

Even after apprenticing under Tokiomi he still doesn’t really know jack about magic and whatnot so him and Gil literally have to bullshit their way through those 10 years between Grail Wars trying to figure out how to win the next one with what limited knowledge they have

Kirei doesn’t particularly like staying in one place for long so it results in a lot of traveling during those 10 years, Gil doesn’t especially mind

He was always meant to be a shopkeeper

How about Gil for "E. five people that character never fell in love with and why."?

Hmm okay so this was really hard considering I’m the biggest Gil multi-shipper out there, but I finally got it so here ya go:

1. Ishtar, y’know for the obvious reasons. They weren’t a good match for each other and there was the whole Bull of Heaven incident resulting in Enkidu’s death so there wasn’t gonna be much moving past that (at least in Fate canon)

2. Iskandar; he was always too overwhelmingly friendly and rambunctious, too overbearing

3. Tokiomi; he cared too much about his own goals for his own good, and wasn’t prepared to handle what the Grail War would become when it came down to it

4. Emiya; he was entertaining to tease but when it came down to it he was again too focused on his own goals, too driven by his sense of justice to care for much else

5. Arturia. Now I know what you’re thinking, hear me out. Gil was entertained by the idea of the person Arturia was, the naïveté and misplaced faith, but he cared nothing for who she actually was. She was a prize to be won, a treasure to be added to his collection, nothing more than that. None of that constitutes love, none of it was positive. He never felt any kind of love for her. (And I want to suffocate him every time he talks to her)

Ash, you never disappoint with your answers! I thoroughly enjoy hearing what you have to say about things (especially Gil). I'm a little closed off from the Fate fandom on tumblr because most of the time I like to enjoy things by myself. But I enjoy going through your blog :)

Aw I’m glad to hear it! Yeah I’ve learned to kind of avoid fandoms as a whole, especially the bigger ones (unfortunately Fate falls into that category). I generally hate seeing discourse and the really awful/offensive but popular jokes that start circulating in bigger fandoms.

So I just enjoy things in my own little corner of the internet, support the artists I like, and I’m glad that other people like seeing that! It’s the best way to enjoy anything imho.

Thanks for answering even though I forgot to specify! I originally was thinking about the vs. who would win in a fight lol. But we're on the same page about Gil being a clingy mf haha.

Of course! And I think a fight between them would greatly depend on circumstance 👀 If they’re still connected by contract it’s an auto-win for Kirei by way of command seal, and if it’s a purely physical fight no weapons no magic allowed I’m sure Kirei would win in that situation as well. But if weapons/magic were allowed it would be an easy win on Gil’s end I’m sure.

So I took pics with the Gil standees at Anime Expo, and man I look like the biggest dweeb ahahaha.

Ah fun! Glad you had a chance to do that, and I’m sure all of us would be a bit dweeby if we had the same chance ^^
