wrt "glitter force": the series name is smile precure! in japanese. the series (smile precure is just one of several) as a whole is pretty good. as a fan i've seen the first episode of glitter force and compared to the original it really does not do it aaaaaany justice at all. it's very trope-y sailor moon-y. that said netflix is penning it as original because they are the only ones to air it, they aren't claiming they made it. that's fan misconception.

How do you feel about Garnet's ability to call things, or I guess, an easier way to say it is... her ability to be fallible? We see her take a "violence definitely solves all" position in So Many Birthdays and she takes another "wrong" call in Coach Steven. The Gems obviously look to her to solve a lot of problems (again, thinking of So Many Birthdays), and view her in high esteem (given how they both react to fusing with her)...

I really love how they’re showing Garnet isn’t always right. I wouldn’t say they went out of their way to push this too hard in the beginning, but they were definitely creating an image of Garnet as pretty unflappable and solidly reliable. She knew what to do and when and how to do it. If Garnet said it, you could trust it.

There’s still that element there, but now it’s in a different shade. Garnet comes across as completely certain and confident, and you instinctively believe whatever she says, but she can be wrong. And when she’s wrong, she tends to be pretty badly wrong, too. She either loses her shit (ala So Many Birthdays), or she become a fifty-foot giant angry smashy Mum.

Kind of like I was saying about Usagi the other day, I am all about the flawed characters. If Garnet were always right, my interest would fade pretty quickly. Instead, what I suspect we may have is someone trying really, really hard, but who may be projecting a whole lot more confidence than she necessarily feels.

okay so brace yourself this is kind of long. so i've always been a no-study person, was always good at getting great grades with no studying at all. because of this, i have absolutely zero studying skills. i'm entering my junior year of college and the past few semesters i've just... failed at them. i don't know how to study. i get A+ on practicals and projects but tests and homework? eek. how do you study when you have 0% knowledge how to? is there like, studying 101?

Compared to XII's Diabolos, fighting him in Lost City felt pretty tame, even if he was 12 times my height (I'm the tallest a Femlala can get). I remember dying and dying and dying... and dying. It was like months later when I actually beat him in XII. >8( How did you beat him, I'm curious--I'm pretty sure my beatdown was just a fluke because I remember going, "How did I..."

You know, I’m not exactly sure. I’m shocked that I did, and that simply buffing myself went such a long way. The only thing I did differently was make sure that Fran (my primary healer) was using Cura on the whole team instead of Curaga as needed… and I think that that just kept my characters alive and healthy for long enough that Diabolos didn’t have enough time to cast his own buffs and protections and break out the really scary abilities.

I'm with you on Amdapor Diabolos, though. Terrifying.

as a pansexual i'm laughing at all these ignorant people like. did none of you take high school english or something, "pan" means all, pansexuality refers to being okay with dating/having sexual relations with ALL GENDERS, be they in the binary or not. simple english here, guys. and it's been around for years. js.

rly tho. although using roots and prefixes is kind of an oversimplified way of explaining it, because words evolve to mean more than what the roots may suggest (bisexual for example, does not always mean just two genders). but the word has been around for almost a hundred years, and even if it was a brand new word, people are willing to add all kinds of slang into their vocabulary, new brand names, new kinds of food, things they've never known about... but suggest that there might be another word for a sexuality they've never heard of, they act like it's an enormous burden to add one more word to their vocabulary even though people learn new words almost every day.
