Soundwave detected the energy surge, as bright as a rose blooming on asphalt. Almost painfully so. He venture into the desert had been for more obscure reasons, but suddenly, urgently, this took priority.
He needed no orders, nor permission from his Lord to abandon his current objective. The trust between them was strong, and anything he could not attend to at the moment, Datashrike could easily take over.
In fact he sent a mental nudge to his dear apprentice to do just that, even as he vectored into a far different course.
Below him the dunes were dark, shaded with silver from the all too visible stars and full moon. In a way it looked like the rust sea. The endless, red sand rolling and rolling like an ocean frozen in time. Almost as cold as well. The dryness always left little pops of static against his night-dark frame when he landed.
The bloom had shrunk by now, but a lingering sort of signal still caught his absolutelattention. He honed on it.
