Sarousch matched the quality of his film but I still want to do him JUSTICE! Here he is a lot more devious than in canon, actively participating in theft and framing hapless peasants in order to avoid detection. He claims to be a robin hood type stealing only for the poor, but all he is doing it riling up in a city already struggling with divide. He also regularly abuses his staff through mind games or by playing favorites. Or simply kicking them out o his circus leaving them to fend for themselves. He's no Claude Frollo and honestly? Why should he be? He should be able to stand on his own merits. Besides he's actually pretty happy Frollo's out of the way that means he can enact his plans without hindrances! XD
Sarousch especially has it out for Madellaine as she's actually a threat to his status. There's also a much more personal stake as both are half siblings here, their dynamic shows how toxic blood relatives can be - which strengthens the lesson on Found Family once Madellaine escapes and befriends Quasi and the gang.
He is still chubby and balding he actually ISN'T ashamed of those traits, only using a wig and corset to better disguise himself so he wouldn't be recognized by true silhouette, and to make his acrobatics easier. He's very nimble for a chubby person. I'm keeping his canon colors as we don't see many Disney Villains with blue as their main color.
Essentially he's the Evil version of Clopin. He is the cheeky facto leader of his group and accepts anyone regardless of race/ethnicity like Clopin. But where Clopin is selfless and cares about others, Sarousch is selfish and only sees people as tools. Though there are some sympathetic traits: having been discriminated well into adulthood, grew up poor he had to do what was necessary to survive. But lost his soul in the process. So in that case he is also a foil to Esmeralda&Phoebus. Both retained their humanity despite immeasurable odds but Sarousch threw his away.
Overall Sarousch had a lot of potential as an entertaining and worthy successor to Frollo but like everything else in this stupid film turned out to be an obnoxious useless tool!
