Intersex Gojo you say? 👀

I've been trying to find a minute while I'm on desktop to respond to this but, yes, intersex Gojo!!!!!!

I have been thinking a lot about intersex Gojo because I love character depictions that fall outside of the sex or gender binary, but for me, it's difficult to envision his story being like what I headcanon for Megumi, which is a much more "straightforward" binary transition story: as in, born one gender and feeling more attuned to another, figuring that out really early on, having resources to fully transition, etc.

Specifically for Gojo, I feel compelled by all of the ways in which his birth was a miracle to the Gojo family, save for the fact of having an ambiguous sex situation. It makes sense that because sexism is so prevalent in jujutsu society they would decide to raise him as a boy. And I think Gojo is fine with that for the most part until he grows up enough to question it and realizes that he doesn't necessarily have any particular attachment to the idea of an assigned sex or a gender

It's a chance to also play a bit more with the socially conservative aspects of jujutsu society. Satoru's overall status as the heir to the Gojo clan, Limitless + Six Eyes users presents a chance for the Gojo clan to step away from conservatism and learn how to meet Satoru's needs—or else to retreat further into what feels safe and known and try to hide certain aspects of who Satoru is. Naturally, I think the Gojo clan would choose the latter. Even with Six Eyes + Limitless and the world in his hands he can't be fully perfect to his family; he's failed them by virtue of something that is completely out of his control.

I like thinking about all of the ways in which that would affect Gojo, and how he feels both a need to radically change society while at the same time working within it boundaries. He still tries to present as a perisex cis man while being intersex and probably seeing himself outside the confines of sex and gender overall. It's a difficult tension.

And I also like the opportunities it presents to bond with Megumi about sex and gender when Megumi starts asking for things about HRT, and how opposite to his family, Gojo is content to fully and radically meet his needs and give him access to anything he wants.

Lastly, I really enjoy him having some kind of surgery scheduled at some point but just refusing to go through with it because 🤷 "I am what I am," a la Conclave. He's the fucking Honored One, and he'll do whatever the fuck he wants with his body <3
