#achievementunlocked! After so many trials n errors with many many spoons.. this spoon did the trick. Finally someone is no longer frustrated while eating his cereal. All thanks to #sassyspoon. The bent angle allows better control and the holes in the spoon allows food to hold on longer. #carousellSG sometimes have the best finds. Esp when you're not actively looking. Let's Eat: Sassy Spoon (mpls)
Don't forget to check out the photos of all the amazing deliciousness: http://bit.ly/1JwQ1LE
In 2015 diners have nutritional needs and with all of the chain restaurants that surround us, it’s nice to know that in the lovey Twin Cities we have options! In the heart of Minneapolis, the Sassy Spoon spun the wheels of their hot pink food truck and created the first brick and mortar Gluten Free restaurant in the Minnesota providing healthy meal options, using local and sustainably raised meats in a gluten free environment! This may sound like a dream, but my friends this is now reality! When you walk through the doors of the Sassy Spoon and see the bright pink and purple spoons, hot pink glitter faux pigs and you’d be excited just about eating there and that’s without grabbing a menu! The service at Sassy was amazing, any question we had was answered without feeling rushed. When you walk in, grab a menu, take a seat and when you’re ready go back to the register to order. The menu has you covered whether you’re stopping in for Breakfast, Lunch or Brunch and for your sipping pleasure The Sassy Spoon has a selection of Wines, Beers and Hard Ciders. (The Loon Juice was fantastic, don’t worry no animals were harmed in order for us to taste the sweet nectar.)
On our eating adventure, we started with the Stuffed Dates. Can I tell you that this was a flavor explosion in my mouth! First off,I’ve never tried a goat cheese filled date that was wrapped inlocally sourced Birchwood Farms bacon. Maybe it was the date or maybe the goat cheese but honestly, the combination of the 3 was sensationally balanced. A mound of heaven on a plate was winking at me from afar. These little stuffed dates were cooked to perfection, as if the goddess of glazed goodness waved her wand and sprinkled just the right amount of warmth to seal the entire bacon flavor into a perfect petite bite. Whether you’re ordering breakfast or Lunch Sassy Spoon prepares each entree with as much organic and locally sourced ingredients as possible, which only enhances the flavor journey you’re about to take!
For brunch, Sassy offers a modern twist on classic favorites offering a variety of dishes that give you energy. For the record, Gluten Free does not mean flavorless. If someone didn’t say it was GF, I doubt you’d even think twice! The Sweet Potato Hash or the “Hungry Hungry Hash” was a mountain of shredded Orange and White sweet potatoes, intertwined with broccoli, onions, green peppers, chicken Andouille sausage, topped off with a fried egg!
This is definitely a dish that can be split between 2 and for only $12 it’s worth every bite. The crepes were light pillows filled with strawberry and rhubarb finished with a heap of whipped cream and slivered almonds (11.50 the flavor changes weekly) there’s two types of Buckwheat pancakes to choose from as well, either the blueberry cakes with orange butter or chocolate chip cakes with fresh maple syrup. If you’re a breakfast traditionalist have no fears. You can order the Basic Breakfast, which consists of 2 eggs your way, bacon or homemade sausage patties and a slice of grain free fruit and nut bread.( Are you drooling yet? Because, I certainly am and we’re not even to lunch yet! The Sassy Spoon offers a variety of small plates that can be added to any Brunch or Lunch order. Take your pick! From theSassy Salad to the Sesame Turkey Meatballs (Six Ferndale Market mini balls served with a sticky & sweet soy dipping sauce) or give the 3 Yucca Patties with a jalapeno cilantro dipping sauce that looked and smelled delish a try! If you’re in the mood for an Asian inspired meal order theZoodle Pad Thai (Zucchini noodles, carrots, red pepper, bean sprouts and egg tossed in a slightly spicy sauce, served with roasted peanuts and lime $12). If you’d like a trip across the pond, go ahead and order the Bangers and Mash (Two organicSchultz Farm sage chicken sausages in a bed of whipped cauliflower topped with fresh parsley and fried onions $13.50) Sassy didn’t forget to include some of their food truck signature favorites such as the Miso- braised Pork (Slow- roasted pulled pork from Fischer Farms topped w/pickled onions & served with a side of ginger garlic slaw and a small salad.$13) . Taking a spin on the classic Chicken Curry Sassy uses Schultz Chicken and mixed veggies in a red curry milk sauce served with cauliflower fried rice or white rice $14) If you’re looking for something for a crowd, the Yucca Flatbread Pizza is a yummy place to start. Ok, so I keep mentioning Yucca and you may be wondering what it is? Well my friend, since you’ve made it this far I’ll share the secret. Yucca is often substituted for potatoes due to its high carb and starch content that can be roasted, boiled and even fried. You’ll start with the Yucca crust that’s topped with red sauce and mozzarella. For a few additional dollars you can add a variety of veggies and meat toppings ($11) Ok, now go forth and spread the word that Gluten Free dining is on the move and here to stay! Happy Eating!

1. What is your favorite video game?
Hands down, Borderlands 2. I've done 2 playthroughs as Axton and I'm still doing the other characters and it's comedy isn't even close to annoying me.
2. If there was a fictional character you could bring to life, who would it be?
Probably Chief. A walking, talking tank would be awesome. Plus, Chief is the best.
3. What was the last thing you cried about?
I forgot some days that are pretty important to my family.
4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Be specific. Not just the name of a country.
I'd probably want to go to Tokyo, Japan. I don't know why but I've always wanted to go. Another place would have to be London.
5. Who is your favorite person in the world?
Probably Hayley Williams. Don't judge me.
6. One thing you love that your parents hate?
Competitive gaming. My folks don't understand the love I have for it. They scream and shout when the Lakers win a game but I scream and shout when my favorite pro pulls off a clutch play.
7. What's a talent that you wish you had?
I wish I had any kind of musical talent.
8. If you were the last person on Earth, what would you do?
I would play every single player game imaginable, (after I find my own source of power) and then most likely watch the sunset.
9. Do you ever wish that you were older? Or younger?
I wish I was older. I also wish I was a little more mentally mature.
10. Where do you want to live? Specifically?
I would LOVE to live in my own gaming house that's located by the beach.
