Satan rebelled against God because of the pride in his heart; his heart was lifted up because of his beauty — Isa. 14:13-14; Ezek. 28:17. Satan’s intention was to overthrow God’s authority and to exalt himself to be equal with God; in his rebellion against God, Satan wanted to be on the same level as God — Isa. 14:13. Because of his rebellion, Satan became God’s adversary, God’s enemy — Zech. 3:1-2; Rev. 12:9a; 20:2a. Satan is not only God’s enemy outside of God’s kingdom but also God’s adversary from within God’s kingdom, rebelling against God.
