I don't know how long ago you sent this ask in but I just saw it and I want you to know this made me very happy sosbksisb I love this headcanon so much
I can imagine Jack always getting really nervous when the younger kids want help reading (espec bc several have run to him because they admire Jack more than anything) and he just... Panics
He doesn't think he can ever read right and it's really helpful that the boys shout out about the headlines. He usually starts reacting based on the boys and he just takes whatever words he can make out and spins them to his own fancy. After a while Crutchie leans over to jokingly talk with him to try to make Jack feel like he's not talking down to him and talk about the headline to let Jack know exactly what it is.
(I also really think dyslexic!Davey is really cool, after having fought really hard to read or find ways to and Jack kind of realizing he's not alone and that he's not an idiot for not being able to read the way most people do and adore it after reading this one darling fic)
Davey helping Jack slowly break apart words so he can try to piece them together makes him happy, especially because I feel like Jack would believe Davey was one of the only one who didn't make him feel like he's stupid for it
