I want to ramble about Satomi for a bit and how I plan to revamp her.
She’s one of the guards of Mizuki, no relation to Hisato or anyone else, but she’s proven herself through countless trials and testaments to her skills not only with the blade but her quick thinking and adaptability.
She has a generally positive out look on life and fiercely loyal and trustworthy.
Though she isn’t part of the main clan branch, she has risen to the highest point one can outside of it.
She doesn’t have a disdain for the royal family of course but more of a realistic approach. kind of like “Those who get caught up in the future forget the past, and those who get caught up in the past fail to live through the present.”
The closer she becomes to Hisato and Rix the more she comes to realize just how limiting clairvoyance can be and how much the two of them rely on it, how Hisato is shackled by anxiety and fear because of it. How Rix has lost the memory of her past and forever seems to be chasing the phantom of a memory.
Satomi plants herself firmly in the present. She’s decisive and takes things on head-first, accepting the consequences.
And I think this version of her really plays into her dynamic more. She’s ordinary by comparison but with far more limitless potential to bring Mizuki into a new era, one that is not afraid to take risks, to accept both the past and look towards the future with hope and optimism.
