Peace works!
Democracy has to work!
Indian Gen-Z proved it!
For the last 49 days, Indian Gen-Z has been protesting to get the Education Minister to resign, as he failed them again and again.
The country has been nothing but a pressure cooker all this time. Kids were brutally assaulted by the police, volunteers were harassed, and the protest leaders were painted in every wrong way possible.
They tried every trick to silence them, but today, Gen-Z made it possible.
The Union Minister of Education has resigned, pressured by nothing but persistent, peaceful protests.
As a millennial, I'm so proud of these kids... and yes, this is only the very first step of this revolution. We are yet to fix the compromised education system and everything that's not working.
So much love and respect for these unserious yet so serious kids. The memes, protest signs were top class comedy, like nothing could stop them. So engaging, wholesome and so clear with what they want. They have my whole heart ❤️💜🩵
Like, this girl from Mumbai, who stopped the police van taking away illegally detained protesters. Endless aura.
The pookiest scientist, climate activist and educator of our country, Sonam Wangchuk, who has nothing but positivity and reforming solutions for every problem, from climate change to our broken education system. He was on a hunger strike for more than 25 days.
Along side Sonam, these three warriors were also on hunger strike.
These three have become national heartthrobs for all the right reasons: Ashutosh, Abhijit, and Saurav. Clarity of thought, leadership, and endless determination.
Abhijit ignited it all when the Chief Justice of India mocked the woke Indian youth as "cockroaches" who had nothing better to do than keep questioning the failing administration. Abhijit started a parody community of the ruling party, and rightfully frustrated Indians joined him. A revolution was born, just some 50 days ago. He claimed the insult and reverse-UNOed.
And these 21 kids, who could have become doctors tomorrow, were left so hopeless by a failing system, with all their hard work going down the drain, that they just self-exited. Their deaths didn't become another number but shook the Gen-Z to stand up and reclaim their future.
Disclaimer: This post is strictly a factual summary of events. If it somehow sounds like criticism of the ruling party, I assure you, that is merely your interpretation. I am just a humble citizen observing things. 😔🤣
Whatever you say Mr Spokesperson ji 🫦🥵
In the eastern UP district of Ghazipur, for instance, near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Parliamentary constituency of Varanasi and where bodies were found floating on the Ganga, around 19,700 people died between 1 July 2020 and 31 March 2021, compared to 1,600 over the same time period in 2019-20, an increase of 1,136%. That is 18,000 excess deaths compared to the same period in 2019-20 and 197 times more than the officially reported Covid-19 toll, which was 92. As in other states, UP’s Civil Registration System (CRS) is supposed to register all births and deaths. But as the Registrar General of India’s (RGI) 2019 report noted that UP registered 63.3% of all estimated deaths. In other words, around 4 of every 10 deaths in UP are not counted, and nearly 31% are registered anytime after a month from death.

Concerns over large-scale fudging of Covid-19 deaths were echoed by one of India’s top doctors. Randeep Guleria, MD, director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, told NDTV India needed a “death audit” to resolve what he called “misclassification” of Covid-related deaths, important to evolve strategies for the battle against Covid-19 and a third wave, which he predicted would hit by August 2021. Menon, the biophysics professor, said inaccurate Covid-19 death tolls could have “a serious negative effect” on India’s fight against future pandemics. “If such unusually low mortality rates are reported by state governments as their official figures, we run the risk that the public will not take messaging regarding the disease seriously enough, especially in the future,” said Menon. “Any data that is collected by the government should be checked for its accuracy, even if it casts the government in a negative light, because such data will feed into public policy and planning”.
