have i ever watched cricket? no. will i plan to watch it in future? ofc no. but here are my two cents as to why their viewership is dropping, from an outsider's perspective.
it's not because the games are one sided, like really good batters and bad bowlers ( as i saw on insta ). it's the fandom. ha har dusre din matches hoti hai which drives people away from the sport but that is the secondary issue.
these fans, like i don't think even using "some" would do justice because there’s so many of these rotten people. these fuckers think that their cricketers are like god. aur yeh cricketers jinke paas multiple managers, best coaches, dietitians, financial advisors, wealth managers hai vo chutiye hai. like these cricketers have everything imaginable, they probably pay a ridiculous amout of tax yet these retards think the wags are "distracting" the cricketers or are "after their money".
mind you the wags in question have their own established careers. idk why these fans feel so maternal over these grown ass man. "arey bhai uska game se kya lena dena???" ha bhai, bilkul lena dena hai. do you know how many sick tweets and headlines i read on avg about a woman receiving death threats, literal rape threats just because a cricket underperformed once.

literally yeh sab log bol rahe. like the woman could be in an entirely different continent yet the player underperfoming would be the fault of these women. "watch it for the love of the game bro, cricketers ki thodi galti hai yeh." nobody is blaming the cricketers. kal tak Anushka thi, aaj travis head ki wife hai, kal kisi aur ko pakad lenge. so i agree that it's not the cricketers fault.
but bhai kaise dekhe koi. casual misogyny toh chod hi do ( like when you say that you're a fan of cricket as a girl then these guys will ask you to name top 3 players from 19th bc or what happened in idk what and when of 1048 ). like take an example of vriddhi patwa, that influencer jo khud hi edits banati hi shipping herself with Abhishek sharma. she posted a reel from when she was at a match and i think srh didn't do well so people were blaming HER in the comments.

like????? are the edits cringe? yes but bhai at the end of the day she's 20, she's just a simple fan who went to see her fav cricketer???? there's so much misogyny and stigma in the cricket fandom in general and the thing is there alot of them like this. to point i am reading all this in headlines. these people have made all these successful women punching bag for their faves not performing well what do you think will happen to us, normal girls??
"oh par wags are irrelevant to the sport, they're not related to the game" toh kyu itna hate comments karte ko? not just wags but even parents, sisters, literally the entire family is attacked for no reason. bhai as girl ( woman toh nahi bolungi kyuki I'm just 18 ) jab misogyny itni deep ho na toh genuinely maan hi nahi karta yeh sport dekhne ke liye. jab tum aurton ko sidha face to face itni ghatiya baatein bolte hai vo safe space kharab ho jata hai aur phir maan nahi karta to learn about a new sport.
even men think, like the chunk who are sane and not like that. they too will be associated with that retarded chunk, even if he's vihaan from sobo with a sobo accent that can rival both kjo and ananya pandey. like hum ladkiyo ko thoda toh doubt hota hai ki what if yeh bhi aisa nikla toh? and no sane person likes being associated with rajesh from bihar who's commenting on Anushka sharma's post "jaa jaake maar ja r***i saali" and lot worse.
this is the main issue. the secondary being the amount of matches. thodi toh haad hoti hai, yeh series khatam toh dusri chalu, yeh khatam toh yeh team ke casual matches, vo khatam toh world cup aur vo bhi khatam toh ipl. like I'm pretty sure I'm missing atleast 5 more formats here.
too much of something is always bad. itne matches hota hai banda enter karein kaise sport? not only that how can you expect one to keep up with 15 diff formats??? hote honge die hard fans but you'll end up driving away alot of fans agar saal mein 400 matches ho toh.
