How invisibility is a villainous power (and also specifically how Invisigal’s can be because her weakness plays a part in this):
1. Certain abilities definitely make you think of certain crimes that can be done with it. I’m sure pyrokinetics are always having to defend themselves against accusations of arson (unless they are responsible, Flambae—). For invisibility, obviously people are going to equate it with stalking and thievery. Even if you don’t do those crimes—which we can’t reasonably say Courtney did when her powers first manifested—that’s still what they’re associated with
2. People can be paranoid. If someone I knew could turn invisible, ofc I’d be checking in the room before saying/doing anything, or eyeing that person suspiciously because what if they were there? If something happens, why couldn’t the invisible person have done it? Even if Invisigal didn’t use her powers, these thoughts are still in people’s heads
3. Let’s say you want to use that power for good, what can you do? Well, you can track bad guys. You can sneak up on your opponents or trick them during the fight. You can take powerful weapons from them. All good things, yes, but it’s still stalking, still stealing, and still trickery. There’s nothing honest about it
4. You can easily be told you didn’t do anything because no one saw you do anything. It’s hard to get recognition when you’re usually undetectable, either by civilians or your own teammates
5. With Invisigal specifically, her power is quite literally self-destructive. Her smoking definitely doesn’t help, but she didn’t choose to have asthma. And even if she didn’t, it’s still self-destructive that her powers demands she holds her breath. She’s asking for oxygen deprivation symptoms (also, maybe she thinks that a real hero’s powers aren’t self-destructive. This would create another parallel between her and Chase which is peak)
I’m sure there’s more reasons, but this is what I have atm. I’m just tired of people not understanding what Invisigal meant when she called her powers villainous. I mean, yes, she did use them for evil, which doesn’t help her case, but I doubt they were ever considered morally good powers just inherently
Also, I’m not saying other members of the Z-Team don’t have powers that weren’t considered morally good, either, I’m just saying Invisigal belongs on that list
