Many people have asked what can be done to help Michael Nesmith. Legally speaking, any recourse is strictly in the hands of Nez's family/employees/Nez himself, but what we as fans can do is raise awareness of this situation. In the way that #FreeBritney helped to draw attention to the plight of Britney Spears, we can also use social media to bring to light what is happening to Nez. A few helpful "Dos" and "Don'ts": DO: - Reblog this post/flyer far and wide and/or retweet it from NP on Twitter. - Tag any or all of the following media outlets: Variety, Rolling Stone, The Hollywood Reporter, TMZ. You can also tag other relevant outlets. - Use any or all of the hashtags shown in this flyer to help get this topic trending: #SaveMichaelNesmith2021, #SaveMichaelNesmith, #SaveNez, #FreeNez. DON'T: - Contact any of Michael Nesmith's family members. Nez's children are already well aware of things and hearing repeatedly from concerned fans will only exacerbate difficulties with the current situation. ------ Looking for something to write in your post? A few good starting points can include: What Michael Nesmith means to you; concerns about the upcoming Monkees tour and COVID-19; the preponderance of elder abuse among other older celebrities (Stan Lee, Casey Kasem, Brian Wilson, Groucho Marx, Nichelle Nichols, etc.). All of this Nez stuff is so frightening. Is there anything we can do? Pass any of this along to the police or anything?

It is absolutely frightening. And many of us have felt helpless for so long, because those in a position to speak out were unable or unwilling to do so. While we as fans and friends unfortunately cannot take legal action, I have created this post as part of a social media campaign to raise awareness about what is happening to Nez. I am hoping that people will reblog it and get the word out, because it truly is silence that allows situations like Nez's to perpetuate, and no one deserves to be abused like that.

Hello, followers of the NP Tumblr. Apologies for the long delay between posts, but it’s been very difficult and painful to be a Monkees fan recently, and the video above is a large part of the reason why. 

This video was shared to the Videoranch Instagram yesterday. This is not the Nez so many of us to know, and to see him in this state—weak, gaunt, possibly malnourished—is beyond horrifying. Those who have followed the #sad state of affairs tag have seen the trajectory of what has happened to Nez over the past few years, but things have sharply grown worse over the past few months in particular, to which this video (as well as yesterday’s livestream) is a living testament. 

 If you are a Michael Nesmith fan and shocked and appalled by this video–as we at NP are–do something. Decry what is happening in this video by sharing it and speaking out against it. Michael Nesmith—the Monkee, the innovator, the country music pioneer, the man and friend many of us know as just Nez—is in serious trouble, and the time for being quiet is long over.
