Can talk about how this is the first time Lucy has talked to anyone about Aquarius' key??? What if Natsu hears her say that before disappearing, and finds it to save him somehow.

Why is Natsu dying?
Natsu is dying because his demon seed is trying to merge with is dragon seed. At least that’s the reason given to us by Igneel. But how does that work exactly? What is the (mostly made-up, but fairy-tail universe realistic) science behind Natsu’s impending death?
First, let’s recap what we know for sure. By hosting Igneel’s soul inside him, Natsu was able to prevent the dragon seed from ever maturing and turning him into a creature like Acnologia. This is the same principal that was applied to all the gen 1 & gen 3 dragon slayers (Natsu, Wendy, Gajeel, Sting, Rogue). Their dragon parents lived inside of their bodies, suppressing the dragon seed with their magic and helping their slayer children to build up dragon antibodies. These antibodies keep the dragon seeds from maturing or from taking over the dragon slayers’ bodies. How this works isn’t exactly explained, but regular, real-life antibodies work by recognizing a material as harmful based on it’s appearance and then neutralizing it. I assume the dragon hosts helped to teach their slayer children’s bodies how to produce antibodies in a way that’s similar to a virus (by presenting their bodies with harmless versions of a pathogen, i.e. something that looks similar to the dragon seed from a cell’s POV). Over time, the dragon slayers’ bodies learned to produce enough dragon-seed antibodies on their own to attack the dragon seed and keep it contained (without magical assistance from their dragon parents).
So, what does this mean for the demon seed? Well, it’s not a far stretch to imagine that when Igneel was inside of Natsu and preventing the dragon seed from maturing, he was also suppressing the demon seed. Dragon’s are super powerful magical creatures, and assuming that demon seed suppression is similar to dragon seed suppression, it’s reasonable to think that Igneel was somehow able to keep both in stasis. Now that Igneel has left Natsu’s body completely (remember, Natsu only recently used the last bit of Igneel’s power in a fight with Zeref), there is no dragon magic left to suppress either seed. For the dragon seed, this doesn’t matter, since Natsu has enough antibodies to keep suppressed it on his own. However, he doesn’t have any natural antibodies to suppress the demon seed nor any magical way to keep it in check.
So, where does they dying part come in? Why isn’t Natsu’s demon seed simply turning him into a demon? Now that there’s nothing suppressing the demon seed, it should just take over Natsu and turn him into a demon, a la the Tartaros demons. This started to happen when Lucy was attacked by Dimaria, but was stopped by Erza’s intervention (severe stress can weaken the imune system and leave you vulnerable to illness, so that could be what happened here, just in a magically accelerated timeline). After being partially taken over by the demon seed, Natsu was called back to his senses by his close friends and was able to suppress the demonization that was happening to him, probably through a combination of his own magic and his immune system. However, this was probably only a temporary fix, as without any means of suppressing the seed, it should eventually take over completely. The problem now is, instead of attacking Natsu’s body, the demon seed is now attacking the dragon seed. We don’t know if this was an inevitable conclusion, or if the demon seed only targeted the dragon seed after Natsu successfully beat it back of his own accord when Erza / Lucy called him back to his sense.
So, what does the dragon / demon seed merge mean for Natsu? Natsu current condition all comes down to antibodies and what they’re doing. On the one hand, it could be that as the demon seed merges with the dragon seed, all of the antibodies Natsu has built up to fight the dragon seed will no longer be super effective. In other words, the demon seed will mutate the dragon seed enough that Natsu’s antibodies can longer identify the seed and attack it. Natsu will then be taken over completely by this demon / dragon seed combination growing inside him and “die” in the sense that his soul will be destroyed, although his physical body will still be there in some mutated fire demon / dragon form. Alternatively, Natsu’s current antibodies could find the new demon / dragon seed hybrid similar enough to their old target (the dragon seed), that they are able to successfully attack that as well. The problem here is that Natsu has already been partially transformed by the demon seed, so there are significant portions of his body that are demonized. In humans, antibodies are designed to attack specific targets, and then mutate to attack similar targets as they encounter them. This is how your body is able to suppress multiple strains of viruses and bacteria. Natsu’s antibodies could go from attacking the dragon seed, to attacking the demon / dragon seed hybrid, and finally mutate to attacking the parts of Natsu that have been infected by the demon seed. In other words, if this is what’s happening, the very antibodies Igneel helped Natsu create in an effort to protect, are now attacking him and killing him from the inside out.
Most of this is probably wrong, especially because I doubt there’s any real reason Natsu is dying other than it adds drama to the story, but since I hate plot twists just for the sake of plot twists, I decided to try to rationalize this one, and to my surprise, it sort of worked. Unfortunately if either of my “theories” is correct, there isn’t a non-magical way to help Natsu. I guess we’ll just have to hope that friendship saves the day, and our main male protagonist, again!
Save Natsu (Theory)
Okay, so remember how Bixlow has the power to remove the soul from a person’s body? Well, what if we were to allow for him to remove Natsu’s soul(s)?
I know that all of you are like, “BUT WON’T THAT JUST MEAN THAT HE’S GOING TO BE A DOLL OR SOME SHIT?!?” Yes, yes he will, but only parts of him.
The Demon and Dragon seeds are obviously different entities and are only killing him because they are trying to fuse, but cannot. Now, I’m not sure about this part, but everyone knows how the Dragon Force and the END transformations are completely different and make him act irrationally, so what if they are really different souls?
What if Bixlow removes Natsu’s extra souls and seals them in, not a doll, but another object, like maybe a book? -winky face-
I’m very aware that this means that Natsu will lose his magic abilities if this happens, but we’re trying to save him from death, so this calls for drastic measures.
I swear Gray, you better get Natsu out of birdman's stomach or I will come into the show and beat you.
