Us: Ok, Boomers.
Them:
Basically, Youtube as we know it is in deep trouble.
https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=FTC-2019-0054-0001
COPPA’s new law basically makes it so that every single video and channel needs to be listed as whether it is kid friendly or not. If your channel is kid friendly, you will not be recommended on Youtube, you will not be able to have personalised ads, you will not be able to have any ad revenue of any kind.
So this seems easy? Just list your videos and channel as mature content that’s for 18+? WRONG! Somehow (not sure how yet, not even they are sure how this will happen) COPPA and the FTC will search for anything in your content that is deemed ‘kid friendly’. If you read their definition of what is deemed as kid friendly (basically: anything colourful, any ‘kid words’ like “cool” “awesome” or “whatever”, anything cartoony (animation falls into that topic no matter what)), you will realise that this is VERY vague and can and WILL cause problems when this is implemented. Not only that; if you are found out to have kid friendly content that isn’t marked as such, you will be fined up to $42,000. Obviously, for smaller Youtubers, this is a very big problem that could end their youtube career in a heartbeat.
This is all being done as action to protect children’s viewing limits online as well as protect data that’s used in the child’s activity online. (In my mind this is basically saying: parents have defaulted to pushing a screen into their child’s face to shut them up so much so, that now everything posted online is deemed a threat to children, and instead of parents bettering themselves, they’re asking the government to babysit for them.) This was something that has been coming for a long while and previous attempts to protect children’s activities online have been put in place, but now COPPA have had enough and are putting this not only into Youtube policies, but into LAW. But all of this is being made under enormous misunderstandings of how internet culture works. I’m sure you can think of so many content creators on Youtube that ride the line between being kid friendly and mature content; now it’s so precise that someone who has colourful lighting in their web cam set up are now deemed ‘kid friendly’, even if they’re saying “fuck” uncensored out loud. What makes it worse is Youtube’s attempts to make videos kid friendly since its demonetisation policies started will most likely still be in place: WHICH CONTRADICTS THE COPPA LAW. Any videos a Youtuber has done to monetise their videos (cut out swearing, not done copyrighted or mature content activities) will now fall into COPPA’s ‘kid friendly’ laws. So now we’re having to shift from being monetisation friendly to make money, to being as adult and not-kid friendly as possible in order to get money, but you’ll still get demonetised by Youtube. Creators will have to decided whether to get fucked by COPPA or Youtube’s old system.
This is a law that needs to be refined and altered. Otherwise this could be the end of Youtube. And this may not stop at Youtube...
But what’s important to highlight here is this is NOT something to 100% blame Youtube over. They were fucked by COPPA and the FTC: BLAME COPPA AND THE FTC OVER THIS, NOT YOUTUBE.
in the link you can comment on the policy. Please comment on it and outline that this policy is hugely vague and can either damage Youtube content creators and Youtube as a platform, or will be abused and will not work in the end. This needs to be either gotten rid of or fixed, FAST.
THIS NEEDS TO BE SPREAD AROUND! THIS NEEDS TO BE HEARD BEFORE THE 9TH DECEMBER 2019!!

Subscribe for the YouTube YOU Want
Subscribe to Pewdiepie might all look like one big meme at first but it's a war between the future of YouTube for individual creators and the massive corporations who are taking over the website.
It's not about Felix's content anymore, or whether or not you like his work, it's much bigger situation now.
If T Series wins, YouTube will make changes to their system that will override smaller individual creators and lean towards big companies and brands.
Don't you already feel the effects of it? It's gonna get worse if T Series wins.
Whether or not you like him or not, pewds represents the individuals like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye who started in their bedrooms with a video camera recording themselves for fun vs corporations with money and power and thousands of workers backing them up.
If YouTube changes their policies to suit corporations who can make videos faster, daily, and in high quality, then you can say goodbye to your favorite YouTuber stars because they're gonna end up leaving the site because they can't compete with corporate giants.
Do you want a YouTube ruled by corporations?
So subscribe to Pewdiepie, not because you like him or his work, but for the fact that doing so will prevent the other bad people from taking over.
Vote for the lesser evil.
Subscribe to Pewdiepie to save the other YouTubers you love.
What can you do to support your favourite artists who are suffering because of COPPA?
Share 👏 their 👏 videos
Share 👏 their 👏 art
Do not reupload without credit (you should already know this), and do not repost if they don't allow that, but do share the hell out of their work where you can
If you're wondering what art has to do with COPPA:
Basically, one thing YouTube flags as "for kids" or "kid attractive" content is cartoons.
Another thing is bright colours, characters, animations, etc.
Sound familiar? Sound like anything your favourite artists are likely to get flagged for??
Well, if so, then it's up to you, the consumer, to spread your favourite artist's YouTube videos like crazy, because they are going to be hidden by YouTube's insane new algorithm and rules for children's content
NOT ONLY THAT: but it's also even more important now to reblog your favourite artist's work AND their commissions info.
If you do not want your favourite artist to disappear, support them. Even if you don't have the money to buy a commission, spread their work!
Thank you.
SAVE Family-Friendly Content on YouTube
Things are getting serious. And we need to take action.
The FTC- Federal Trades Commission- are beginning to crack down on content for any form of entertainment, and unfortunately that means every youtuber is at Risk. Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, Pewdiepie, Game Grumps... Everyone will and is going to be affected. Why they aren’t deciding to address this is unknown, probably because they don’t want everyone to get too scared, but this is real. This is something that was set in the 90s. And that was almost two decades ago. It’s 2019, and things are changing.
Many smaller content creators, including Dawko, Chadtronic, Dolllightful are addressing this very serious and very real issue.
Sadly the ‘content’ the FTC is pointing for kids is unneccessarily vague and unclear, as well as outdated with the times. The whole ‘mark for kids’ thing doesn’t protect your favorite creators. Next year, Unus Annus could be gone altogether- Mark and Ethan could be fined for a nasty price- it could end their careers.
Please, PLEASE, sign the petition, get your voices heard, spread the word, tell everyone, don’t just ‘like’ this post, reblog it two, three, five times-- get the word around.
Because the next time you see Mark, Jack, Arin, MatPat, and all your favorite creators, could very well be the last.
This is a very important matter that needs more attention. Creators could lose their livelihoods and be sued for nothing but their thumbnails appealing to children. "What does this mean?" you ask. It means no more cartoon reviews. No more toys even appearing for a minute or two in a video. No pastel colors for Christ sake. This will apply to all of America if the coppa law takes affect as well as to all the non Americans that use websites accessible to the U.S. Not just YouTube is at stake here. It's online entertainment as a whole. Thank you for your time and if you would please sign this petition to try and stop this coppa.

SAVE Family-Friendly Content on YouTube
What?
I can't believe people still support Social Repose. Do these people know what he has done? He lied and cheated on his girlfriends and lied to his fans. He is also becoming the new Onision, both hating on people and lying to people and being manipulative. Stop supporting them, they are sick bastards and need to get off of YouTube already.
