The familiar horn blew outside of Capital City, Aces ears ringing a bit at it. He parked the horses and camel just outside of the gates, gabbing Wemmbu and pulling her off, a tiny bit gentler this time. Ace felt Wemmbus arm was slightly bloody, taking note of it but not saying anything

The smoke slithers through the air like a living thing—writhing and twisting with a mind of its own. It coils upward in heavy, suffocating spirals, stark against the molten glow of flames leaping hungrily toward the heavens.
Something has been set on fire. Something has been burning. Something has been put out.
Lettuce looms through the haze, a towering silhouette against the furious smoke. He moves with slow, deliberate steps—each one heavy and purposeful, like the relentless beat of a war drum. He doesn’t flinch when he sees Wemmbu, not even a flicker of hesitation in his stride.
His presence alone is a storm of fury wrapped in the guise of a man, his eyes hard and unyielding as they lock onto Ace.
There’s no mercy in that gaze—only the seething wrath of a leader betrayed.
"Ace," Lettuce says, slow. Almost dangerous. "Didn't I tell you to kill him?"
