How do you save an url?

You make a sideblog with the url you want to save, and just don’t use it. When you want to change the url of your original blog, just switch names ☺️

Wouldn’t recommend making more than 5 sideblogs though as @28nation suggested, tumblr is known to shut down accounts that have too many side blogs (especially unused ones).

I still can’t believe that toraleistripe wasn’t a taken url, like, that’s crazy to me, I tried out several Monster High character’s names as urls and they were all already taken, even one of my absolute favorite characters, Avea Trotter, who, sadly, isn’t a very popular character, even her name was spoken for. isidawndancer was taken too, so it really surprised me that I was able to acquire the toraleistrpe url.

Also apparantly it’s not a good idea to save a bunch of urls?? Like, you can get into legit trouble with tumblr according to some people??? I had no idea, I had several urls saved since I like to occasionally change my main url, but I promptly took a second look at them and deleted a bunch of them to free them up for someone else since when I really got looking at some of them, I’m certain I never would have used them after all. I only kept the urls that I’ve already used in the past (supersylviafan, julikat, general-carbine, and sarahsandersons) and some that I know for sure I’ll use in the future. I now have only eight urls, not counting this one, but including the four I just listed.

I honestly never thought of it as hoarding or hogging urls and I apologize for not giving it more thought before.

Username/URL Abuse or Squatting. Tumblr's usernames/URLs are meant for the use and enjoyment of all of our users. Don't squat, hoard, amass, accumulate, accrue, stockpile, rack up, buy, trade, sell, launder, invest in, ingest, get drunk on, cyber with, grope, or jealously guard Tumblr usernames/URLs.

The urls 'sherlockwho', 'tomsayssorry', 'thomaswilliam' and 'moriathi' are mine now. I think I'll start some sideblogs soon.

However, I’m not a dick. 

If you wanted this URL for a blog you are 100% planning to use (and not just to save the URL yourself), please message me off anon on my main blog and we can work something out.

If I do give you this URL, all I’m asking for is a one sentence credit on one post of your blog. Not on your description, not everyday until you die, just one post that says “Hey, I changed my URL and I got it from this person”. That’s it. You can even copy and paste that into a text box.

Also, you won’t need to trade any URLs unless you want to or you have a URL you’re willing to give up.

I hope this has helped you in any way and I’m sorry if it inconveniences you, but hey, at least that’s better than finding that this blog is completely empty, you know?
