YESSSSS LET US ROLL OVER AND DIE TOGETHER IN THE BACK SEAT OF HANNIBAL’S CAR, THE MUSIC AND THE SNOW AND EVERYTHING IS PERFECT

Ugh tho there is just so much. I love in the DVD commentary with Bryan and Hugh when Hugh is talking about how Mads was really driving the car, but they had to go like 15 mph (~25 kph), and there were like 3 people and a bunch of camera equipment in the back seat so it was frustratingly slow and very awkward.

I also really like the driving scene in Savoreux when Hannibal looks over at tiny sleeping Will and it’s raining outside and asghjfkjshlll

Hannibal rewatch commentary, S1E13: “Savoreux”

SPOILERS AHOY. 1. Serial killers have a Bro Code. The penalty for breaking it is, obviously, death. 2. Will has spent his entire life fighting his urge to commit horrible murders. He’s terrified that people will figure this out about him. 3. Will likes and feels comfortable with those he sees as helpless, such as stray dogs, bleeding baby birds, and victims of attempted murder. 4. Will is not, in fact, straight as a nail. 5. Jack is terrible at his job. 6. Alana isn’t that great at hers, either. 7. Grownups massively failed Abigail Hobbs. 8. They shoulda listened to Frederick Chilton.

Will wakes up to confront evidence that he has finally lost his lifelong battle with his own Dark Passenger. #2. It’s bleakly amusing seeing Hannibal trying to mimic the way a human would feel when they thought someone they cared about had killed someone else they cared about.

Alana is wearing reality-pill red when she confronts Jack. Jack is still evading his responsibility. “Every decision I made concerning Will's mental health I made under advisement of a respected psychiatrist, who you recommended.” So if I screwed up, Alana, it’s your fault for having recommended Hannibal. Never mind that on several occasions, Jack blatantly ignored Hannibal’s advice about Will and bluntly stated that he was going to do so. Hell, Hannibal probably got to the point where he knew he could say, “Jack, Will is cracking up. Take him out of the field,” because Jack would just ignore him. #5.

When Alana shows Will’s clock drawing to the others, Jack asks if Will could have been faking this symptom. Here is one of the occasional subversions of #6: you can tell that Alana would really like to say that no, no way could Will have faked this, but she knows he could and she admits it. 

Bev continues to be awesome.

Will figures out that he’s being framed and runs to Hannibal, they figure this is a great time for a road trip, and in GJH’s kitchen the penny drops. Will figures out that Hannibal’s the copycat killer and the one who framed him. Hannibal responds by proposing murder marriage: “At a time when other men fear their isolation, yours has become understandable to you. You are alone because you are unique. I'm as alone as you are. If you followed the urges you kept down for so long, cultivated them as the inspirations they are, you would have become someone other than yourself.” A few lines later: “Are you a killer, Will?”

Will’s figuring it all out. That Hannibal saw his Dark Passenger and wanted to unleash it, to make Will’s worst nightmare come true. #2. “You were just... curious what I would do. Someone like me. Someone who thinks how I think. Wind him up... and watch him go.” Yep. Preferably Will will “go” straight into Hannibal’s arms.

But no, not yet.

And Jack shows up just in time to save Hannibal from Will. Sigh.
