John walked up to River, holding a present. It was her birthday and the beginning of his shift, so he bought her a small thing. Maybe she didn't like astronomy, he didn't knew so maybe the book he wanted to give was not useful. He dared to take the risk. "Happy birthday River." (saxonsinful!verse)
River looked up as he walked in and smiled gently. “Oh, John thank you.” She smiled taking the present in her hand. “Can I open it now?”
"I'm sorry I can't stay I've got somewhere to be." River said as she got her stuff together.
"River, I was wondering... maybe you want to go to the movies sometime this weekend?" John asked shyly. (saxonsinfulverse)

River looked up a little stunned at the question, a few weeks ago she would have said yes without a second thought. Now however she was trying to get her marriage back on track, then again no one said Harry needed to know but still she faltered when it came to speak. “Oh em, I don’t know I’m quite busy.”

“you, shouldn’t trust people. No one.” River hiccuped before scoffing. “Trusting means having that trust broken. And that hurts like a son of a bitch.”
"Without trust… Is like living without friends or family. It’s part of your life, River." He smiled at her before taking another sip from his beer. "Don’t you trust me?"
River shook her head. "Not yet, how do I know to trust people now? I never trusted my father, I trusted Harry and all he does is lie."
He'd crumble in a few hours. only you would know where the key is. he'd have to do as you say.
"No. He’d be horribly angry not pleading."
Exactly that. Take it off for good behaviour, put it back on for bad. He'd learn fast
"HA!" River scoffed rolling her eyes. "That’s not a good idea."
