I'm not a big fan of traditional Arabic music, and I never was. I never enjoyed neither its tunes nor rhythms. I always found it.. Meaningless? Plain?.. May be because it is unharmonized and monophonic. But those 13 minutes of overwhelming sentiments have something different... I reckon that there's a different type of harmony realized in this piece of music; the harmony between the lyrics and the tune.. this unique type of harmony that never failed to touch my inner soul in every single time of the thousands of times I played it on loop in the past few months, although I wasn't experiencing the exact sentiments the lyrics are talking about.
This is brilliance incarnated in a song, born from an exceptional and revolutionary composer.
