Originating in the dual walled city of Mistveil, the Savins are a distinguished noble house noted for their piety and connections within the Dawnguard and the Cloverry. It is an old and distinguished family, in good standing among its peers. Younger members of the family are often expected to follow a career in service of the Guard or as a member of the Cloverry regardless of their personal feelings or motivations. Many members of the family presently serve as members of either institution.

Stefan was born son to Lord Alistair Savin and like many of his ancestors took it as an honour to join the Guard; an order of warriors noted for their exceptional prowess in battle. He served for ten years and became a notable commander in the Guard’s rank; planning, leading and executing several successful campaigns against the Nightspawn’s Swarms. Unfortunately, during one battle he was injured on the field of battle and though he survived was left injured. With the Guard’s apparent success in eradicating the Swarms almost a decade ago Stefan returned home and has since lived with the honorary epithet High Inquisitor - acting as an emissary for the Dawnguard and Lord of House Savin. 

They are relatively uninvolved with civil strife and concern themselves primarily with their own people and lands though have on several occasions been dragged unwillingly into skirmishes. Stefan is known to be a relatively serious man, widower to Lady Julia Ashwood he has no heirs but otherwise exceedingly good prospects and prosperous lands the borders of which have since expanded from lands reclaimed in the wars. He is known to take in wards and forge alliances with several smaller houses, one such example being Danian of House Lovel.

General Facts: 

The Dawnguard (think Night’s Watch meets the Grey Wardens)

Are an order that are sworn to protect the land of the living from unknown threats and creatures of the dark known by the commonfolk as nightspawn; monstrous creatures the origins of which are not well known. 

These creatures were once limitless in number, and spread a taint that is capable of infecting all living creatures, mutating them into monsters. 

The Dawnguard have been involved in many aggressive campaigns over the centuries, reclaiming lands that most had given up for lost. During the last century, the Guard slowly managed to stand firm and push back the Swarm which have no noted presence in the Kingdoms since the last Swarm outbreak decades ago.

The Guard have grown to be more of a nomadic mercenary order that now serve to fight for causes deemed just and honourable.

Fane:

Generally seen as a notable commander and war hero. There are all sorts of fables about his campaigns and he is generally seen as a war hero. That being said he prefers not to drown in the glory of his past exploits. He much prefers to maintain a low profile if he can help it. No ostentatious apparel though he typically bears some symbol of the Guard on his clothing.

He is Lord to a modestly sized keep with good prospects and agricultural land but seems to have no real interest presently in remarrying. Though his links with the Guard are the most potentially appealing prospect about House Savin.

House Savin are neutral for the most part unless given cause to call their banners, their support tends to be more inclined to smaller houses with less prospects. Though they have several connections with other greater Houses for industry and trade, while they prefer to manage their own prospects they see the sense in unification of the Kingdoms under the  Highest Raj.
