Sam’s Club Scan and Go Challenge Puts Usain Bolt to the Test in New Spot
Sam’s Club recently released a spot which starred Olympic medalist Usain Bolt. The retailer put the Olympic medalist to the test with its scan and go challenge. With the spot, the retailer is trying to tell their customers that they can get their shopping done in a jiffy when they use their mobile-checkout scanning system. They prove this by showing Usain Bolt shopping and checking out 20 items in less than 3 mins.
About Scan and Go Challenge with Usain Bolt Spot
The 90-second Sam’s Club spot was produced by MONO and it stars the Olympic medalist Usain Bolt. In the spot, we see Bolt rushing a shopping cart down the aisle after aisle at full speed as he tries to checkout 20 items before 3 mins. He, of course, uses Sam’s Club’s mobile-checkout scanning system to check out these 20 items. Some of the items include a large unicorn and a Christmas wreath. Though Bolt is rushing to beat the clock he still has time to scoop up snacks holiday decor and even pauses to taste what appears to be a fluorescent sports drink. He, of course, beats the clock and checks out all the 20 items. A crowd of employees in their signature blue vests cheer for him. His victory is shortlived as Felix who broke Bolt’s record for most gold medals at the track and field World Championships walks into the store. She shoves a wad of gold medals in his chest, telling Bolt to “hold my medals” as she heads toward the starting line. According to Sam’s Club, Felix will be in some other ads talking trash with Bolt. The campaign will consist of more than a dozen pieces of unique content and collaboration with Jimmy Kimmel Live! to air Nov. 26. It will run through the end of the year across several digital and traditional platforms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHd0u7dfGrA
