Regarding The Brill Incident:

By now the report made by Crusader-Lord Schacktorn has likely made the rounds, but I felt that my own could be added. As he stated: our scouts in the region noted looting efforts being carried out by the undead near Brill. Such an insult could not be tolerated, and so the Highlord mobilized a small group of crusaders while Grand Crusader Fairwalker prepared a larger force to assist. On arriving, we noted elves with the undead looters. One proved to be some sort of banshee, and it is with great satisfaction that I can report that it was put down after a harrowing fight. 

As our Highlord is merciful, the desecrators were notified of their transgressions and given the opportunity to submit to painless execution. They did not submit. Battle was joined and it was immediately evident that the enemy forces called on evil magics. Demons entered the fray, and a number of hexes weakened the forces of the Conclave. This proved to be a small blessing as it provided me a chance to test the new procedures for de-cursing. I am pleased to report that the “Untangling” procedure was most effective, and all Arcanists regardless of rank or speciality should endeavor to master the method immediately. 

Grand Crusader Fairwalker and her forces made a very effective pincer maneuver by circling to flank the looters. Her tactical awareness deserves noting: her actions made for a much cleaner fight than might otherwise have been. Though we sustained injuries, not a single Crusader was lost. Unfortunately, only one of the looters was cut down. The others managed to flee in an unsurprising act of cowardice. Still, all the materiel was recovered and will soon be distributed among those who are in the most need. Food from the supplies is already allocated to be given to our southern brothers and sisters of Westfall and Stormwind, I pray that it helps to ease their suffering. 

My heart swells with pride in each of our Crusaders. Your faith and stalwart honor in the face of hellfire is an inspiration. There is not a single one of you that I am dissatisfied with. Crusader-Lord Schacktorn has already named several worthy of distinction, but I believe that Crusaders Ashenmore and Carlisle also deserve praise for their teamwork and skills. Wrathcaster Fox as well impressed me with her steady nerve in the face of what can undoubtedly have been a sobering encounter with the results of indiscreet dark magic usage. 

Although the foul desecrators escaped, I implore you all to think of this as the victory it was. The Light is with us, as always, and has granted us the boon of not only the recovered supplies, but a bolstered reputation as well! I know that word of this rout will be spread through the shambling ranks of vultures who wish to pick our homeland to bones. Let them all know: The Scarlet flame yet burns brightly in Lordaeron and the children of the Light shall not falter in our mission to preserve our homeland! You’re all fantastic rpers and I can’t wait to meet up again! <3))

Well we didn’t die, lucky us. All things told, it went a lot better than I expected. I’m proud of my fellow Crusaders and how we performed on this operation... Now for a much needed drink, and some much deserved rest.

I nearly forgot how nice it is just to do art for fun. Leveling kick in wow allowed me to pay attention to put Loyician’s pals in game. Shadowlands gives me some idea that I may be using the Scarlet jerks a lot more, along with the Rathwalds as a whole.

Meeting Held on 10/26

I will keep this report brief:

It is with great joy that I announce that three of our Crusaders have been elevated in position. Tonight’s meeting was in their honor, so that the new titles might be properly introduced. 

Tiberius O’Sullivan is now officially Armsmaster, in recognition of his efforts to better train the faithful as well as his long and dependable service. Should any crusader desire further combat training they are encouraged to seek out our new Armsmaster.

Charles Schacktorn was also recognized and elevated to Lord-Crusader. This title carries with it increased pay as well as greater access to the Conclave’s Reliquary of various artifacts and recovered items. Given his wise use of the magic items in his care, I am confident that he will use all resources to their greatest potential. 

Finally, Rhuna Redmane has been named High Protector. Her service as my bodyguard proved her to be a uniquely adept guardsman and we look forward to seeing her wisdom spread to the others of the guard. 

All three have been granted tabards fitting of the Crimson Legion and of their faithful service. May the Light bless and keep them in their new duties. 

Addendum: 

No further intelligence has been found on the sorcerer who so badly wounded our forces weeks back. Given that he is missing an arm and uses uncouth magics that the Light must surely reject, I can only pray that he bled to death after escaping through his portal. All crusaders and civilians are tasked with remaining vigilant in the face of this uncertainty.

Operations report and Public Notice

From the Desk of Highlady Eirdwen Thoranis: Regular operations have resumed. An increase in patrols is to be expected and all able-bodied Crusaders are asked to sign up with their captains for further missions. Conflict with the rebels has been slowing as of late and scout reports indicate that all traitor factions are occupied with the Cult of the Damned. They have, by all appearances, taken heavy losses in all cases. The Light is clearly with us, as our borders have been holding and our losses have been minimal. In one week’s time the Highlord will lead us on a mission into traitor-held lands to rout a group of Scourge that are wreaking havoc. Although these traitors are now our enemy, they were once our brothers. Let us pray that they will see the error of their ways and seek forgiveness. May the Holy Light continue to favor us in all that we do, particularly now in this time of terror. It is with deep sorrow that I must confirm the rumors: one of the Old Gods of Void has been awoken. The Kirin Tor has confirmed this, as well as others. This Great Enemy deals in lies and misdirection, maddening and confusing it’s victims. Those who use void and shadow, or shamanic ties to the earth are most susceptible though any could fall victim. If yourself or anyone you know begin to hear whispers, see shadowy beings, or suspect void corruption for any reason: seek out the Inquisition immediately. Decursing has proven somewhat effective in breaking the madness; anyone with arcane leanings is requested to report to myself or the Inquisition for instruction. We must be vigilant, now more than ever. Our faith bolsters us and protects us. May we all walk from this shadowed nightmare unscathed and ever bathed in glory. Light bless and protect you all.

The First Pearl Recovered!

As some are aware, the Highlord led an expedition last night to recover a relic of vague but unmistakable importance. Research on the nature of a rumored “Pearl of Dioscorus” led us to a town long-since abandoned. It stings my soul to see our hard work in such disarray; Light willing, that town will soon be fully cleansed and inhabited once more. For now, it will suffice to say that the place was a shambles. Rather than examine the ruin, the Highlord, Charles Schacktorn, Crusader McFife, and I made haste to the cemetery crypt where we believed the tomb of Saint Dioscorus would hold the pearl we sought. Haste did not prevent us from pausing along the way to eliminate a few clusters of walking dead that had been raised. 

I must here interrupt my own report to implore all who settle these lands to cremate the dead. So much time and effort can be saved with this one precaution! The ghouls that we encountered were hardly a fight, but in large enough numbers even mice can be deadly. Blessedly, only I was careless enough to be wounded and the injury was only a scratch. The Highlord was kind enough to observe the wound all night and declared it free of infection or corruption. Even this minor annoyance could have been avoided by diligent burning of bodies! 

At this time Crusader Asteria joined us after having her departure from Redholm City somewhat delayed. Now together as a full group, we entered the crypt and slew the revolting deathknight that we encountered guarding the tomb’s door. Crusader McFife landed a particularly spectacular killing blow and should be commended for that, as well as for his uniformly impressive combat performance all evening. With the foul corpse dispatched (and burned properly) we found ourselves faced with a riddle: “What is it when given one, you have either two or none?” To save the reader a list of lewd suggestions, the answer was “a choice”. 

The correct answer opened the tomb, where we found the coffin tragically empty, but the pearl present. An inscription spoke of a vague curse on the artifact, but Crusader Captain Schacktorn retrieved it with no ill effects. The inscription was likely a lie. A matter of note: it seems that “Saint Dioscorus” did not rest well. He is once again walking as a necromantic monster. It goes without saying that it is our sworn duty to see him put back to rest, and so we shall. 

Overall, the mission was a smashing success. All should be praised for their service, with the exception of those of us who were injured due to our own carelessness. Let the lesson be to treat every encounter with utmost gravity, and use training exercises to test new armor or equipment.
