As the daughter of Peter Parker and Felicia Hardy, she has inherited the powers of both of them, expanding them to a certain degree. While she shares all of her father's powers, she can also generate her own webbing and in combination with her other powers change its nature using it as whips or chains as well as having her spider-sense develop into a form of premonition. Her wallcrawling expanded into gravity manipulation. From her mother, her tychokinesis has developed into probability manipulation, and due to the magical nature of her father as an avatar of the Web of Life and Destiny, allowed her to develop magical abilities that she developed under the tutelage of both Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff, with whom she shares potential as a Scarlet Witch. In addition to her mutations, she is also a genius and a master archer.

As stated above, she is the daughter of Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, and Peter Parker, the original Spiderman. Born after her father lost Mary-Jane Watson to the supervillain Morris Bench aka Hydroman, and the support from a Black Cat that knew something was wrong came to fruition. Much to her own surprise, as she met the age of twelve, she found out that the mother that seemed to try to clean her reputation had been, at some point,a criminal when the crimes of her past hit on her door in an attempt at closing the business that she so hard workingly had built. In order to protect her mother, May hacked into the system reducing the impact of her mother's actions by changing the different records, effectively cleaning her image, and putting her mother in debt with her, a debt that she still hasn't asked to be paid back.

She became the Scarlet Spider at the same age that her father, stealing one of his old uniforms and changing it enough to fit her comfort, taking on the mantle of her uncles Ben and Kaine. Unlike them, her uniform matches Spiderman's 2099's pattern, with the black being blue. The tech in the suit is meant to meet her hacking skills anywhere, everywhere. Much like Iron Man's helmet does for him.
