yeah quite honestly the alucard/twins sex scene was my one and only 'did not like' of that season, as it was completely gratuitus imho

Honestly Alucard’s whole plotline felt, well, if not entirely gratuitous, then at least easily the weakest of the four arcs (and it really did feel motivated in large part by ‘shit, we need to find something for Alucard to do’. Also, the twins’ turn to sexmurder kind of came out of nowhere, there. 

But yeah, if I had to rank the plots 

1-Sypha and Trevor take to long investigating and get the Adventure Module’s Bad Ending 

2-Isaac’s Evil Sorcerer-King Training Arc/travelling finishing school

3-Hector’s #Problematic vampire romance novel 

4-Alucard and the twins. 

But yeah, fun season in general, if in a very ‘brain off enjoy spectacle and dialogue’ sort of way.

 tbh I never listen to outside opinions especially concerning things I love, I mean I wouldn’t talk to my own Wife about her opinions about it before I saw it because I knew I wanted to go in clean and without any expectations and i’m glad I did

Heya ~ sorry about never getting back to you until now.

First off, that’s my gf, @twogiraffesapproaching who hates vikings.

A week ago she went on a trip with the school she works at. It was at a sort of viking theme park where kids had to pretend to live in “the viking age”. This meant living under extremely sexist circumstances (not to mention situations that would be very uncomfortable for trans kids), where the girls had to cook food and do reproductive work basically while boys were made to play with tin casting and “explore the world”.

One thing to keep in mind is, this is in Denmark, and there never was a “viking age” in Denmark. The “danish viking age” is a made up concept conceived in the 1800-hundreds as a nationalist project. But that didn’t stop the theme park from giving girls at the school a terrible experience and normalize sexism “because they had to experience how things were back then”. And then of course there’s the whole problem of teaching kids fake history.

I am more sour about historical revisionism, straightwashing of norse mythology and the idead of “a danish viking age”. I don’t hate the idea of vikings as a whole, (although there’s also a ton of macho bullshit that has been constructed into that word in itself.) Regardless I respect my girlfriends’ feelings and they’re valid and backed up by a whole lot of actual shitty things that are going on in Denmark. Such as neonazis and other folks with toxic masculinities really loving the idea of super macho vikings.

Well. Hope that was a mostly legible explanation. And thanks for asking. :-)

Okay I know less than nothing about Slayers, but my vague impression was always that Lina was, like, the archetype of the Shonen Protagonist who deals with the Gordian Knot but blowing it up with a dragon. Which is not exactly what I’m looking for :P

the plot is open enough that you shouldn’t have any issues jumping in. it’s also meaty enough and (for me) weird enough to be enjoyable. plus gameplay is good and the scenery is something else

Oh I’m sure the gameplay will be great and it’ll be beautiful, I’m just intensely skittish about anything that’s mostly getting talked about as subverting/deconstructing/rewriting/your-buzzword-here-ing it’s predecessor when I haven’t actually played/watched the original.

Ok, so, i'm really poor and was wondering if you had a spoiler free review? Or maybe just a go see it / don't go see it (i trust your geek cred)? I don't wanna go if it's gonna be hella money AND crush all my hopes and dreams.

Well honestly it really depends on what your hopes and dreams are for SW. Both Nelle and I prioritize very different characters than most of the fandom and our interests lie in things others might not necessarily care about, so while one detail in TLJ might infuriate us, it could make someone else happy. Movies are art and are therefore subjective, it all depends on your personal stance tbh.

If you’re really invested in SW I would suggest you go see it, it’s definitely an experience and there are a few scenes I will sorely miss not being able to see on the big screen again. If not, then it can wait, it’s going to be in theaters for quite a while so you have time.

i have adhd too, and i know how hard it is to ignore the 100 different things trying to get your attention. For me, what i do is completely relax my mind, and refuse to allow myself to follow any of those thoughts. instead, i focus on simply the feeling of being empty (become one with the void!). essentially i spontaneously disassociate enough that i distance myself from my own mind, and in that quiet place i find peace.

@scartissuesoul Hmm, maybe I can try that.

To clarify, I’m not certain that I have ADHD, but I think I might.
