Scary moth - showdown bandit x hello puppets
Original
Creatonotos gangis
This very real moth found in South East Asia and part of Australia has been making the rounds on the internet thanks to a viral video made popular by The Independent.
The “thing” on its abdomen is called a coremata and is used to produce a pheromone called hydroxydanaidal to attract mates. Some males can produce up to 400 milligrams of the pheromone. The size of the coremata and the amount of hydroxydanaidal produced depends on the diet of the insect in its caterpillar stage and if the diet included pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

Kid: Dad
Moth (texting, yes xD): Dad is dead. You're next. Love, Moth
There was this giant moth flying around my mum's room, and she kept shouting at the cat to get it but she wasn't moving, so my mum started running around the room. I went to see what the hell was happening and the moth was attracted to my laptop and it landed on my hand which made me feel sick and eww, so I flung it off and it flew to the other side of the room. We started calling the dog from downstairs and she came running into my mum's room with her tail going insane, as it does, and she ran around the room like a maniac. She jumped right across the bed and caught it the other side of the room. Just caught it in her mouth. I had to look away because she was squashing it in her mouth and then she just rolled around with it and spat it out on the floor again, before just lying back down on the floor looking at me. The moth just lay there on the floor in a heap, just all dead. I walked right around it, leaving about a metre space around the moth so I didn't step on it to read my mum something, and then when my mum looked at it dead on the floor she gagged and looked away again. It was so funny.
