Luke sobbed into his hands as he saw the clock hit 11:59. His daughter just turned 10 years old. It had been five years since he dropped off his precious Rey on the planet Jakku, five years since her mother sacrificed her own life to protect her, five years since Luke lost his beloved Rose. Guilt ripped through his entire being as he thought of someone else raising his daughter, teaching her new things, seeing her grow up and mature into a young woman. Luke wouldn’t be able to do that. He was forced to leave her, to protect her from those that wished to manipulate her gifts. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t think of his beautiful, precious, perfect Rey.
To make matters worse, he had just had a nightmare.
When Luke saw a vision of Han being stabbed through the chest with a lightsaber, he didn’t believe it. For one thing, Han looked much older, possibly in his 70′s. Luke also didn’t recognize the man stabbing him, but he immediately sensed the Force and the power of the Dark Side in the man. It wasn’t until the next night, when he experienced another vision giving him more detail as to who the man was that he realized it was a vision of the far future.
The man stabbing Han… was Han’s own son. Luke knew he had to do something. He didn’t want to change the future, since he knew that was a path to the Dark Side, but he wanted to understand what was going on.
It took him many months but with the help of others and different technologies pieced together, he developed a machine that could bring him to the future and back. He programmed it to about the time period he saw in his visions and walked through it.
When he arrived on the other side, he looked around and discovered he was surrounded by sand. He wasn’t on Tatooine yet it looked strangely familiar. Either way, he needed to figure out where he was. And that was when he heard footsteps behind him. Luke turned around and his eyes fell upon a beautiful young woman, and he immediately sensed the Force in her. And he swore he had felt this strength before…
“Excuse me, would you mind telling me what planet I’m on?”
