@sccharin asked: The younger woman sets the tea cup before Lin and then slides onto the couch beside her. Kuvira is in casual clothes and her hair is down after a long day, and all she wants to do is spend the evening relaxing with Lin. Shoulders brush when she tucks her legs under her and to the side. Just maybe she had done that on purpose... " It's always a joy to watch you work, Lin. But I enjoy getting to see you let loose a little, you know? "
SITTING THERE WITH THE YOUNGER WOMAN, LIN FEELS SLIGHTLY OUT OF PLACE, out of sorts. This isn’t something she often does. While she gets along well with many of the metalbenders on her force, it’s rare she joins in on any after-work gatherings. She’s their boss and knows that regardless of whether some like her well enough or not, she wouldn’t be welcome. Though Kuvira is different; she’s not really part of the force, she’s new and there to train and learn, likely to go back to Zaofu before long. Something about it feels different, and Lin tries very hard to not examine too deeply why she feels different with her.
When the younger woman’s shoulder brushes against her, goose bumps rise up on her flesh and a slight flush colors her cheek, which both confuses and embarrasses her. And she tries her best to laugh to cover those telling signs and says, “Let loose? I can’t remember the last time I really let loose”. Gesturing around her to all of her things in order, she sips her tea. She’s not really one to let loose. At least not with an audience.
“But it’s nice to relax--sometimes,” she concedes. A workaholic through and through, relaxation is something she often has to force herself to do, or else is driven to when she physically can work no more. When she looks back to Kuvira again, she flushes once more at her closeness and hastily takes another sip of tea, regretting it instantly as it’s still scalding, burning the roof of her mouth.
