The soles of boots barely touch the ground with the speed they travel at, minds focused on the single goal of reaching the room before it was too late. She was hoping there was still plenty of time to step in before things went to total shit, if it even could anymore than it was. When the heroes started flooding in their surprise attack, there was no doubt of who the rat was. Dabi shared the same knowing look Kasumi had when their eyes met in the hallway and off they went in search of the bastard.
Fear. It surged her adrenaline in a way she hadn't experienced in a long time. The familiarity of it sat heavy in her chest, flexing the muscles of her heart in a painful ache she tried hard to ignore. Dabi followed close behind her as she let her nose lead the way, following the direction of the scent she had learned to find comfort in the past year. Almost there. Almost safe.
"--All I want is to make sure the people I care for end up happy!"
"I'll be sure to tell them that--!"
Twice's voice rings clear in their ears, heels sliding against the concrete foundation as they halted their pace to stop at the entrance to the room. The sight of Hawks poised over their comrade, feathered blade in hand, pushed them into action as they responded without hesitation. Dabi's flames erupted into the room in an effort to separate the two, boot slamming onto the Pro Hero's cheek to pin him down while he was off guard.
"That won't be necessary. I heard him. You didn't notice us, did ya, Hawks? Guess you did get distracted." Dabi's grin is present in his voice as he mocks the man beneath his foot, smug in the fact he knew from the very beginning this guy was nothing but a rat. An insidious P L A G U E to their plans.
Kasumi is at Twice's side, hands shaking from the rushing build up of her quirk as she examines the state of him. He attempts to speak, wanting to apologize for getting them in such a mess. For letting them get hurt again. Dabi and Kasumi both brush off the doubt, speaking in unison that this wasn't his mistake. Blue flames erupt again as Dabi continues his assault on the hero, forcing Kasumi to pull Twice away from the fires to avoid the both of them receiving grievous injuries. She manages to get him up as Dabi encourages them to go help the others, a renewed vigor taking over Twice's body as the two men hi-five each other in passing. Kasumi follows without hesitation before her eyes widen in the direction of their escape, picking up the scorched smell of Hawks waiting for them. It surprises them all that he managed to escape Dabi's flames in order to cut them off given his current state, but Kasumi isn't letting him hinder their plans anymore.
"Get the hell outta our way!" The growl that is emitted from her lungs is inhuman, sharp teeth barred towards the hero as she surges forward with an outstretched hand. Just as Dabi realizes the situation and shifts his flames, Kasumi catches a hold of Hawks' wrist and yanks him back into the room with a force that creates the sound of shattered bones as his body tumbles against the hard floor. Her breathing is heavy, blood pumping furiously as she turns back to aid the man she came here to save. He's horribly wounded, grip struggling to stay strong against the metal railing as his body begins to slump. His will perseveres as he manages to make a clone to go help Mr. Compress and Toga below, but out of the corner of his eye he sees those little red feathers surrounding him again. He wonders if Kasumi sees them too, but he doesn't have to worry about it much longer as a new pain tears through his body.
He hears her screaming, voice becoming hoarse from the sheer force of it. They hadn't anticipated him pushing through the flames behind them, blade plunging down in a last ditch effort to neutralize the danger. Kasumi's arm had done very little to stop the razor edge from going through, sliced straight down between her knuckles to the middle of her forearm before the angle of her punch allows it to slip free before she could lose the rest of her appendage, the momentum piercing straight through her shoulder and into Twice in the end.
Everything seems too quiet then. Too cold despite the roaring flames just a few steps away. Her lungs struggle to regain a steady flow of air, the force of the attack pinning her to Twice's body as they fell. Her eyes followed the blurred shape of Hawks as he stumbles and collapses to the side from Dabi's flames, the blade ripped out from the two bodies and getting lost somewhere over the edge. Pale hands frantically feel around, head fearing to turn unto the sight beside her, but he's not moving anymore. He's not breathing. The stench of his blood overloads her senses, causing her to finally look down at the gruesome mess of the only man she cared about.
"No!" Her voice shrieks as she begins frantically moving over Jin's body, pathetically scooping up his overflowing blood back over the gaping wounds as if that would somehow resurrect him. Her tears obscure her vision as she moves to cradle his face all the while Dabi continues on against Hawks and now a student that's come to his rescue. The ringing is loud in her ears, but she can hear Dabi lament about Twice's death while mentioning the inevitable rampage she would go on. It felt like a ticking countdown, heart beating faster and faster before suddenly exploding.
The student narrowly dodges the sudden launch of the woman while cradling his mentor, shocked to see that the spot they had just been at completely demolished. Kasumi stumbles for a second before surging forward again with the sole goal of ripping the hero apart. Dabi follows them to the next level down, preparing to fire off again until Geten's ice formation knocks him off course. But Kasumi remained. Her sharpened nails sink into the flesh and cartilage of Hawks' ankle, ripping him away from his student just as they were about to take off. It's a game of tug-o-war, Kasumi lifted in the air as the student attempts to take off while holding strong. The blood causes her grip to loosen, and one last chance to be free of the villain proves successful as falling debris knocks her loose and back onto the cold, crumbling building.
Her scream rings loud and clear in those in the vicinity, sending a horrifying chill through their bones as her pain rings out. It's the very last thing Twice hears.
