Agave schidigera 'Shira ito no Ohi': There are many varieties of Agave, but some are more one of a kind than others. This Agave is obviously one of the more unique and eye catching members of the family. With a name literally meaning "Queen of white thread-leaf" it is easy to see why this plant is prized amongst collectors and plant hobbyist. Not only is it's beauty striking, but so is its size which is about 1'-18" when fully grown (both tall and wide). White threads (which will curl up and move when sprayed with water on a warm day) extend from a yellow edged leaf which is beautifully contrasted against the two tone green. However like most other Agaves, this one will only bloom once in its life and produce greenish flowers upon a 10' stalk. A truly awesome plant for anyone to lay their eyes upon.
